You have a big problem with logical understanding.
You don't know Lagos.
The Financial Times reporter spent months in Lagos and visited many of the places before writing his report. But you did not even read it before posting your ignorant comment.

You copy and paste photographs of few isolated cases of the failures of few Chairmen of LGAs in Lagos State and want to blame Fashola for that?
What percent of such cases exist compared to the overall development of Lagos State when Fashola was the Governor?

Please save yourself the stress of blowing dogo turenchi.
Na who big vocabulary don epp?
While you posted a news story of seven years ago from an individual journalist who was likely PAID from the taxes of hard working. long suffering Lagosians, below is a ranking of the WORST cities in the world.

Omooba77:
A report released yesterday by The Economist Intelligence Unit ranked Lagos as the third worst city to live, maintaining its position at the lowest rungs of the Global Liveability index.

Several other global reports had also said that Lagos, with a population of over 22 million, would in the next few years, become the 4th mega city in the world, with a population of over 30 million.

The city placed 138th out of the 140 cities ranked in the latest liveability survey, just above war-ravaged Tripoli and Damascus.

“Of the poorer-scoring cities, 13 continue to occupy the very bottom tier of liveability, where ratings fall below 50 percent and most aspects of living are severely restricted.

Below is the comment of someone about the Sailor's Lounge bar in Lekki Phase 1 as of January this year i.e. some seven months ago and the response of the Manger in March i.e. five months ago.

Went in for drinks and everything was a bit sticky, glasses not quite clean. Didn't want to eat there. Garbage in the water between the patio and ramp leading to the seating on the water. Maybe there was a huge party the night before, don't know, will pass on a return visit.

Thanks for the honest review, we truly appreciate your comments, as it makes us better. Your complaints are duly noted and extreme measure have already been put in place to avoid a repeat. Also, due to the fact we built the floating bar on water, we occasionally have issues of dirt passing by, nevertheless, measures have also been put in place to ensure the passing dirt does not stay.

Trash... Let's stop celebrating mediocrity in Naija.. This is why this reckless politicains take the populace for granted.. Lagos has far more potential & BRF didn't do anything spectacular... This we have come to realize after his 8 years as governor.. Lagos is a modern day ghetto, public infrastructure is zero, open sewage/gutters, bad waste management, lax public servants..

I expected an informed man like BRF to have laid the framework for an efficient metro system in Lagos, a city of this population can not thrive well without metro regardless of the KMs of new road built, but even a tram line has taken 9 years to construct & still not fully functional...
If only you knew where Lagos was coming from. Prior to his tenure, Lagos was nothing but a disaster. A cluster of functionless dirt. Heading over 20 million heterogeneous people within that small geographic space and having the braveness to do what Fashola did in my opinion is not mediocrity.
Let's give it to him whatever credit he got, he deserved.

Lawmaker scores Lagos Water Corporation low

A Lagos State lawmaker, Mr Saka Fafunmi, on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction at the performance of the state Water Corporation.

Fafunmi, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), said in Ikeja that the corporation had not been able to justify statutory allocations to it.

The lawmaker, who represents Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 1 at the assembly, spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said that the corporation had the capacity to generate much fund internally through water rates but had relied solely on government funding because of poor performance.

'' Anyone that is using water will be willing to pay for it; the corporation has not been giving us water.

"Is there any new community that Water Corporation has given water? People depend on boreholes; even government estates have industrial boreholes.

"Why do we keep pumping money into an agency that does not give us the desired results?'' he asked.

He noted that the Adiyan Waterworks was located at Ifako-Ijaiye, where many of the residents had resorted to digging boreholes as a means of getting water.

''A lot of people are falling sick because they don't drink clean water.

''In the same compound, where you have sewage, is where you have a borehole.

''There is no way you can manage the sewage that it will not leak and pollute the water; everyone drinking such is drinking contaminated water,'' he said.

The lawmaker urged the corporation to increase water reticulation and supply to residents.

What the _fuck are you talking about sir?

Don't you realize that Lagos had so many challenges in the past and successive governments can only improve on what their predecessor had done. BRF obviously couldn't touch every nook and cranny of Lagos state but he did his utmost best to continue with Tinubu's foundation.

Are you aware the of the challenges of giving every Lagosians pipe-borne water into their homes. The government was aware of the challenges and have in their Lagos state developmental plan outlined steps to be taken to make water supply available in the homes of every Lagosian. That cannot be achieved in 8 years. Fash had started it by building new waterworks and dedicated IPPs to power them and it is now the responsibility of Ambode to look at improving the water supply shortage and learn from the past government mistakes and improve on the delivery.

I don't get your bitterness about Lagos. You are always everywhere to _bitch about Lagos sir. You need to change that attitude online. You are known for this on NL.

And then again in 2016, Amb-Ole also "bought" another set of 10,000 CCTV for the "sophisticated" Lagosians. grin grin grin

donglazy:
The Lagos State Government yesterday said it had concluded plans to install 10,000 Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras statewide as part of measures to ensure that the state is secure against the activities of terrorists in the light of the insurgency rocking the country

Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Akinyemi Ashade, said this while giving a breakdown of the 2016 budget, tagged ’The Peoples’ Budget’, saying the government will also activate the existing 1,000 CCTV cameras already installed in the state.

According to him, “We will be expanding our ICT infrastructure statewide. Consequently, a budget of N9.6 billion has been approved for this purpose in 2016. This will include a Smart City project targeted at deploying technology to enhance security in the state. It will also aid our revenue generating efforts.

“We will be increasing coverage of CCTV installations in the state. Our goal is to have over 10,000 active cameras, connected by Broadband. The existing 1,000 cameras will be reactivated and these will be increased by an additional 3,000 cameras after the completion of the first phase of this project.”

Speaking on the need to beef up security and maintain law and order, the Commissioner said ”We are all aware of the security challenges in the country, and to manage this in the state we have committed about N23.5 billion for the maintenance of law and order, and to support security services in the area of vehicles, security gadgets and logistics.

“We shall continue to enhance the welfare of our security agents by providing allowances, fuelling of patrol vehicles and giving adequate life insurance covers to motivate them in 2016. We will provide more buildings for Police Area Commands in our state to enhance their performance. This budget also includes projects that will enhance security of lives and property in other areas of governance as previously enumerated.

“You will recall that this administration handed over equipment worth N4.765 billion to the Lagos State Police Command in the last quarter of 2015. In addition to the activities mentioned earlier, we have also made provisions for the completion of on-going court projects in Igando, Imota, Ajegunle, as well as Judges’ Quarters at Falomo, to complement those that had been completed.”

The Commissioner added that attention will be given to improving disaster management, purchase of firefighting, occupational and public safety equipment, and the construction of new fire stations and relief camps across the state.

Ashade said geographic information systems and business solutions will be given special attention in the course of the year.

According to him, activities to be covered under the platform include the expansion of the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) residents’ registration exercise, the issuance of permanent resident’s cards, and the consolidation of public financial management system reforms.

He said the sum of N6.5 billion has been provided for in the budget for 2016.

I'm highly critical of how people report issues. TRANSFORMED in what way? If Fasholas effort in lagos deserves commendation then he should be commended.
With new roads built, oshodi cleared, bus stops erected etc all in all the infrastructures put in place wouldn't amount to that sweeping statement of transformation.
The lagos we know haven't change one bit: the extortion by area boys at bus stops; the dirt and blocked gutters; the worsening traffic jams; the continued indiscipline by road users n general public; beggars nuisance; the noise n pollution; the no solution floodings; the.... it goes on and on and that is the Lagos we've always known and are still seeing. Lagos hasn't bn transform one bit.
The skyline hasn't change
The ground level hasn't change
The air quality isn't better
Lagosians attitudes hasn't change

So where comes the TRANSFORMED. In fact lagos is as enmeshed in its old self as ever.

I am certain you fall into either of three groups 1. You were born in the 80's 2. You don't live in Lagos or 3. The area you live in hasn't been touched yet. ( hard to believe) Because you don't come across as a liar, I wager a cross between points 1 and 2

They are reading it, because they are not lazy members like some people we know comment first without even reading.

Maybe they are not all lazy.
Maybe they have read it several times before since it first appeared in 2009 just like your recycled, repeated non-representative pictures.
Maybe they also know it is a bunch of LIES that was paid for to polish the dirty image of the fraudster minister of darkness.

The lagos we know haven't change one bit: the extortion by area boys at bus stops; the dirt and blocked gutters; the worsening traffic jams; the continued indiscipline by road users n general public; beggars nuisance; the noise n pollution; the no solution floodings; the.... it
goes on and on and that is the Lagos we've always known and are still seeing. Lagos hasn't bn transform one bit.
The skyline hasn't change
The ground level hasn't change
The air quality isn't better
Lagosians attitudes hasn't change

So where comes the TRANSFORMED. In fact lagos is as enmeshed in its old self as ever.

Which part of Lagos do you reside?

Yet, the only university owned by the Lagos State government, Lagos State University (LASU) suffered massive deaccreditation of its academic programs. More than half of its programmes were deaccredited by NUC.

The once leading law faculty in the entire country has now stopped admission into its law degree programme even while a senior lawyer was running the state.

That is how 'transformed' Lagos has been.

[size=14pt]It is really a problem discussing with people who don't read before commenting.
The author of the report is Matthew Green and he is an expert and it is only rational to read the report instead of making off point childish comments out of context of the subject matter.
He did not say Fashola as Governor made Lagos into heaven on earth. He reported what the residents of Lagos State said on how he transformed Lagos.
The transformation of the notorious Oshodi bus stop is enough for millions of people in Lagos who dread the old Oshodi.
If you have personal scores to settle with Fashola, please, take the nearest flight to Abuja and go and confront him with your grievances and petitions.
Stop posting irrelevant and illogical comments like primary school boys arguing in a public school.

The following is the biographical profile of the author and if you cannot match his proven educational and professional qualifications, please don't argue like intellectual illiterates.

Matthew Green (born 17 October 1975) is a British journalist and author. He was raised in Hampton Middlesex where he attended Hampton School before he studied African politics at Oxford University and spent five years on the ground in East Africa reporting for Reuters. He is currently the South Asia Security Correspondent for the Financial Times.Matthew’s first book, entitled The Wizard of the Nile: The Hunt for Africa’s Most Wanted, documents his search through the war zone of Uganda for Joseph Kony, the mysterious rebel leader known for abducting children and using them as child soldiers.

From 2007 to 2009, he was based in Lagos as the West Africa correspondent for the Financial Times. In September 2009, Matthew took up a new assignment as the FT's South Asia Security Correspondent, covering Afghanistan and Pakistan from Kabul and Islamabad. He also reported from the frontline in the last Iraq War whilst embedded with US marines.

'Lagos shows how a city can recover from a deep, deep pit': Rem Koolhaas talks to Kunlé Adeyemi

When you think that in only 20 years, there’s been such a change in Lagos … cities actually grow faster than humans now. You can develop a whole city in less than 20 years. And in 20 years, Lagos has almost completely transformed itself. Why panic?

https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2016/feb/26/lagos-rem-koolhaas-kunle-adeyemi

Kunlé Adeyemi (born 7 April 1976) is a Nigerian architect, urbanist and creative researcher. Adeyemi is founder and principal of NLÉ, an architecture, design and urbanism practice, based in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. Adeyemi studied at the University of Lagos in Nigeria and Princeton University in New Jersey, the United States. Before starting his own office in the Netherlands, he worked nearly a decade at Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kunl%C3%A9_Adeyemi

World famous architect Rem Koolhaas co-produced "Lagos Wide and Close" documentary with Bregtje van der Haak. It was based on research by Koolhaas’ Harvard Project on the City and he is the author of "Lagos: How It Works" (Paperback – 1 Mar 2007)
"Lagos: How it Works" is the result of more than eight years of research in Lagos, Nigeria. As a symbol of West African urbanism, Lagos contradicts almost every defining feature of the "modernâ city. And yet itâs a city that works.

Thanks for the clarification about the 2011 picture. However there are many schools that still have such deplorable buildings and the APC administration has done very little for education in their 17 years of complete and total rule of Lagos state.
It is not about hate. It is about deception and the need to ensure our leaders do the best with our money. Is that a bad thing
