2. Choosing a career in which one does not possess the necessary ability, interest, aptitude and personality traits.

3. Choosing a career because a friend has chosen it.

4. Choosing a career in which employment is either scarce or non-existent.

5. Choosing a career the preparation/training for which the family/personal resources are not able to carry.

6. Choosing a career just to please parents and other family members.

7. Choosing a career out of frustration or as a last resort.

8. Choosing a career that may not be actualized with the school subjects offered by the student.

9. Choosing a career without consulting professional guidance personnel.

10. Choosing a career that one may not be committed to but choosing it for the fun of it.

11. Choosing a career because of the monetary advantages.

12. Choosing a career without full knowledge about the career.

13. Choosing a career that would not help to lead one to self-actualization or self-fulfillment; i.e. achieving one’s career goals.

In this part of the country parents choose careers for their children based on their life experiences. Every nigerian parents wants their children to become doctor even if the child doesn't have passion for it.

A large chunk of students are doing a different course or on a different career part because of frustration. Jamb has frustrated many people leaving them with no option but to go for an alternative.

Besides most of the courses offered in schools are not even heard of in preliminary levels I.e secondary school level, so many students get to know about their course in their uni level after admission, and with time they come to love and accept the course.

At a younger age in life, so many of us had the aspirations, intentions to go into what was thought was the best in life, but things changes, they really do. Owing to the unfortunate looking into the modern world, where our sole aim is now to grow and get rich, trying out of all pressure to force successes to our command. Career abuse!

Me, my graduate course does not match with my current job. This does not mean the path is closed. I am accumulating wealth to advance in my course, not for the wealth, but to be a specialist and make a success of it. But we got stuck on the career path when we re'define it to be wealth and nothin more.

Op you're right! But the path in careers must never mix with Kurt attain wealth, or turn back when we think we need to get rich only... Remember, when you become an exclusive on your path, success will beg to dwell with you.

For some this starts happening from before they get admission. I remember years back I was so good in maths but my mind was so fixed on medicine and surgery. I later found myself in biochemistry and I struggled to graduate.

Some choose their career out of frustration when they are left with no option. Some will have passion & wants to study a better course in uni but school will give offer them admission to study CRS, IRS wtf.

Choosing a wrong career might be as a result of lack of information or inadequate orientation about the career. Its unfortunate that most people don't have good mentoring instead the parents play the role but the question is how exposed or enlightened are they. Because they provide the fund, you have to do their wish. But it takes determination and Strong conviction for parents to support their wards in their choosing field. My dad is an architect , he believes all occupations revolves around architecture but I proved him wrong that science and technology is still the best. He purchased my jamb forms and filled Estate Management but I deliberately failed the exam because I did not like it. Until he gave me my jamb form to fill myself and I filled Mechanical Engineering , that was when he realised I meant business. I have seen people that have succeeded in engineering and when I had opportunity of meeting them, I ask questions and Guidance. It was my top priority and i went for it. Because of this I spent around 9years in the higher institution ( ND, HND, B.Eng) jumping from one school to another but although I was studying mechanical engineering. I am a registered mechanical engineer today and I am doing well. I still learn on the go to keep abreast of technological advancement . I hop someone can learn from this.

For me o it's God anywhere u see ur self[sub][/sub] any course u giving read it well u might not still use the cert to become successful check out this successful plp of our time which of them excelled with dia certs its just with dia intellect nd God grace see dangote,adenuga etc non of dem used dia cert to reach dia present state so career is just dia especially in Nigeria rite now its not about career any were u see ur self carry go i know of a friend who has always wanted to study medicine but he ended up studying biology science nw his working in gud company earning more nd his happy with d job very happy I know lots of plp like dat too so free dat tin
