Fourteen Oil Workers Kidnapped In Rivers- The Vanguard by HungerBAD: 12:37am On Sep 03, 2016
Fourteen Oil workers were kidnapped yesterday afternoon around Omoku-Elele link road.

Saturday Vanguard gathered that the Costa bus which was carrying the company’s workers was accosted and diverted to an unknown destination under heavy gunfire by the bandits. A source privy to the incident but who preferred to speak on condition of anonymity disclosed that the workers were returning to Port Harcourt before the incident.

The source said the victims had gone to work at Omoku area and were coming back to their base in Port Harcourt before the kidnappers surfaced. At press time, efforts made to reach company management to speak on the development proved abortive as the only known contact was not connecting. When reached, the Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the development and quickly added that the police were on top of the situation. Omoni said, “We are combing the area right now.

We are doing our best to rescue the victims and apprehend the kidnappers.

Nawa o, one day one trouble in this our geographical expression called Nigeria. I pray that they be released and re-united with their loved ones hale and hearty. Oga Bubu should just resign cos things are getting from bad to worse and he seems ineffective in handling the affairs of this country. Hmm, you know what? Princesaha is the 'FIRSTUS TO COMMENTUS' here. One out of my seven girlfriends is celebrating her birthday today and i wanna use this opportunity to say 'long life and prosperity to my one and lovely princess Gbemisola'. As for you people under me, God will do it 4 u as he did for me today.

Its now a common thing on that axis of the East West Road... My anger is that, you will not see a single police checkpoint there, but you'll find them stationed pole to pole after Elele to Rumuji which is relatively safe. sad angry

Do not kidnap oil workers. Buhari is a grand failure already. Kidnapping will not help the economy. The man does not have a single idea of his own, except shooting

I don't know why people are so hypocritical. There was a relative peace in Rivers during the reigns of Amaechi but all of a sudden, criminals resurfaced from no where and we keep mute. Is it because Wike from PDP is the governor that we have refused to beam our searchlight of criticism in that direction?

Amaechi spent Rivers money on Buhari's primary, he was heavily criticized

Wike spent Rivers money on PDP botched convention, he was lauded

Wike has been using Rivers money to buy judgement for Markafi, no one is talking

To think he borrowed #30b and more for this anti-rivers "projects" is rather unthinkable..very sad

Change.
Where are the Afonjas that brought this to us.
Buhari is not the only northerner to have ruled this country yet it is only bad news that one can associate his name with.
Yaradua brought peace to that region and the entire country because he is a man of peace. No one shouted marginalisation.
Now look at this bigot we have now. We rejected him based on his antecedent yet the Afonjas didn't listen. They threw in propaganda and here we are now.

Very notorious road. Oil workers in PH can attest to this.

The sad thing is that the bus would have been accompanied by an armed escort car.

Who is the Chief Security Officer of the state if not Wike ? As the Head of touts and Cultists in the state, he has used them to win election and they have been thoroughly empowered to do and undo now.

This was the same thing that happened in Bono and the gangs grew in power overtime. The Cultists Wike used have grown to Kidnapping now.

Is River State on the path of destruction just like Borno? Tomorrow shall tell....

Bro don't mind them...suddenly pdp members are saints + it's noteworthy pdp 'base' has shifted to rivers state since they lost abuja.

Nobody needs to tell u they're milking oil states in readiness for 2019.

@the topic This is like a movie rerun, that's how I remember MILITants did back then, first they#1- blow pipelines,
then #2-kidnap oil workers,
then #3-kidnap traditional rulers/rich NDtans,
then #4-kidnap children of rich n'dtans,
then #5-kidnap anybody they see as easy prey.

It was only when it got to stage 3 people in the ND began to realise they needed to work towards ending militancy.

I've come to realise our dull forefathers who traded their kinsmen for mirror and tobacco are actually wiser than a vast majority of present day nigerians...I doubt they would make same mistakes repeatedly.

But a certain Gov. Wike would say the insecurity in Rivers is just a media propaganda. There is hardly any day an incident doesn't occur in R/S.

Criminal acts occur everyday in every State but that of Rivers is a bigger problem than others. The PDP used cult groups to rig elections and at the end of the day cannot provide funds for running of the cult groups Greenlanders, Icelanders, Dey bam and Dey Well. It is just a recurring scenario similar to what happened in 2003 during Odili reelection which lead to the 1st one Amaechi solved when he became Governor.

Bus load of people being kidnapped within Ikwerre, Emohua, Ahoadas and ONELGA is an everyday news in Rivers State.
