Being Resilient: A Step To Continuous Success by Rhymez(m): 3:07pm On Sep 21, 2016
Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anybody else expects of you. Never excuse yourself. Never pity yourself. Be a hard master to yourself-and be lenient to everybody else"---Henry Ward Beecher

Resilience is that ineffable quality that allows some people to be knocked down by life and come back stronger than ever. Rather than letting failure overcome them and drain their resolve, they find a way to rise from the ashes.
Once in our life time, we tend to face difficulties in our home, place of work and even at school. The purpose of this article is to encourage us on how to bounce back from tough and even tougher times.

What does it mean to be resilient?
Being resilient means ability to bounce back from adversity, depression, stress and catastrophe. We are living in a country where most people depend less on the government to survive. The popular Nigeria economic slogan "Suffering and Smiling" is just a good example, but when you remain redundant about it, then it becomes a curse.
We have to see situation for what it really is, but in order to do this we need to learn to control our emotions and our reactions. We need to learn to give ourselves a moment to think before we jump to an un-suitable conclusion and act it out!

Benefits of being Resilient:
We should have it at the back of our mind that nothing good comes easy. If it was easy, everyone would have been a rich man/woman. Being resilience gives you hope, it develops your mental state. Resilience allows you to recover your strength in the most distressing situations. It frees you from negative emotions or thoughts, remaining optimistic in most or all situations. You become a "YES I CAN" ambassador.

How to become resilient?
1. Positive thinking is one of the step to become resilient. Don't create a problem with negative thinking and expect to solve it with negative thinking. Think outside the box.
2. Master your emotions before they take control of you. Be in control of your reaction or your conclusion may be catastrophic.
3. Stay tough. Keep the fire burning even when the winds blows it off. Keep trying harder.
4. Stay healthy. Yes! You need to take good care of yourself. Eat good food and have good rest.
Conclusion:
Inasmuch as these factors to become resilient appear physical, we should also remember to pray and ask for courage from God. We should not be discouraged by environmental factors. It only takes a spark to start a fire. I will end this article with a poem written by Charlie Remiggio

Never Give Up
Never give up, never lose hope
Always have faith it allows you to cope
Trying times will pass as they always do
Just have patience your dreams will come true
Put on a smile, you will live through your pain
Know this will pass, and strength you will
gain.---- Charlie Remiggio
