A Nigerian senator, Shehu Sani, has described those demanding sales of the country’s national asset as “economic predators and profiteers who want to take advantage of the situation in the country.”

Mr. Sani, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign and Local Debts, said on Friday that “Nigeria’s capitalist forces raped Nigeria to recession and now they want to kill and bury it.”

Nigerians think these set of capitalists are really helping grow our economy by providing poorly remunerated jobs to the unemployed.

Albeit, in the real sense of it, they are subtly gagging and stifling the system by monopolising the mercantilism through their allies in government.

Not enough, these shameless are here calling for the sale of NLNG and others, so as to enlarge their empire, with assurances that by December, 2016, Nigeria will be out of recession.

It's time the current government ,if they're actually serious about making the desired change, looked into the activities of some of these caterpillars ,with a view to determining if they are serving national interest or not.

Thanks and God bless Nigeria.

how much are even the employees paid....how much does dangote pay his employees compared to what NLNG would pay and at the same time creating revenue for the country..

Regionalism would have ensured we don't get to read news like this.... angry

Well I trust my brothers in the Niger delta...deals like this won't pass one bit...

Nigerians attached too much sentiment to economic and nation issues.

These setup asset are not doing anything to the common masses, they are just an Avenue for nepotism, corruption, and wastage of resources.
At present stage, how many Nigerians are gainfully employed by most of these government companies?
How many of those employed are productive?
How are the employee selected?

All over the developed world, government primary responsibility is to provide security, institution of state and infrastructure to make life easier for the citizenry. It is the organized private sector that provide the jobs, run the manufacturing sectors and all means of production.

Over the year, we spend government resources to build steel plant, refineries and different type of industry that put in place to generate wealth, create employment opportunities, diversify out economy and industrialized our great nation but we haven't been able to achieve much in all these respect because of corruption, nepotism and instability. All these point to the fact that government have no business doing business, we will be better off if all these asset are transferred to the private sector, people can make profile put of them

the question you should be asking is how much profit is NLNG making for the federal government, how well has NLNG expand their workforce within the last four years?

The problem with Nigeria is we are too lazy to see the bigger picture. Government run industries create mediocrity, nepotism and corruption. Over the year we have four refineries that can't produce up to 20% of our domestic consumption of refine fuel after billions of US dollars had gone into maintenance, salary and allowances (all these money which are stolen by the way).

We have government establishment that are suppose to be a source of revenue generator that have turned into a source of large outlay of recurrent expenditure. Selling off all these asset we make better sense and will reduce the burden on government to developed more infrastructures

the NLNG has been doing just fine as regards revenue generation..there are expansions going on especially with the train 7..there is expansion..the basic truth is that there is a lot of ulterior motive surrounding the sales of these assets..that's the problem..especially with the NLNG that is properly functioning..

Rather what we need are new LNGs like as planned for brass and ondo..
