Great Nurses!!! I have waited for too long for some one to create a forum about us but non was forthcoming. I have. Decided to take the bull by the horn today
You will agree with me that our RN certificate in Nigeria is a. Subject of controversy and really unfair to spend 4yrs in the university just to upgrade to B.SC and its really expensive going abroad for top-up-degree.
Pls if you have any area you can educate us,it would really be appreciated. we can discuss on top-up-degree in different countries, specialties ,working condition and how to advance in our career.
Any information you give could be useful to someone. Great nurses!!! Together we shal Stand

Canada is the best when it comes to nursing, it's a 4 years degree course and they need people in that field because people are scarce in that field. You can work while you study and get good pay, this is before becoming a registered nurse. Registered nurses in Nigeria can go to Canada and study for 1 year in order to know how nursing works in Canada, to know the rules, to know the dos and don'ts, to know how to use advance technology, to do research and to get more knowledge in your field in order to be a qualified nurse in Canada, most importantly the pay is on point and you always get to work while studying and immediately after studying. Because there are lots of opportunities in Canada when it comes to nursing smiley

@itsquinn pls how easy is it to get a visa to Canada. And what procedures can registered nurses in Nigeria take to make this possible?
Re: Registered Nurses Forum(pls Let's Discuss) by Nobody: 3:29pm On Oct 07, 2016
Its easy to get Canadian visa because Canada has a very low population and they need more people in their country. In Canada there are various types of people from different countries with different cultures. You need to get admitted in a college or university first before doing all the necessary requirements for a canadian visa, its very easy if you have an agent to help you with the process. Good luck smiley

Re: Registered Nurses Forum(pls Let's Discuss) by Nobody: 3:47pm On Oct 07, 2016
From 6000 canadian dollars above.... i don't know how their working experience is like but after studying they give you 1 or 2 years for working experience, no need to apply for a working permit after your studies, you can apply for a working permit after/during the 1 or 2 years working experience.

DEVELOPING THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP MINDSET IN YOU AS A NURSE.
Health reforms worldwide are required due to the largely ageing population, increase in chronic diseases, rising cost of health and living. To meet the needs, nurses are being encouraged to practice to the full extent of their skills and take significant leadership roles in health policy, planning and provision; these can majorly be achieved by entrepreneurship in nursing.
According Wikipedia, Entrepreneurship is said to be the “capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make profit”. Going by the definition above, I could say an Entrepreneur is a person who has the capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make profit. An entrepreneur identifies opportunities and makes use of the opportunities to their own advantage.
Majority of nurses in the contemporary Nigeria are dependent on others (government and private employees) for their income and finances, meanwhile there are a lot of opportunities that are waiting to be explored. This lecture is aimed at awakening, stimulating, identifying and developing the innate entrepreneurship ability and skills is us.
In order to achieve financial freedom, happiness and stability, we all need to move and thread in the line of entrepreneurship. Examining critically, we would discover that the successful people in today’s world are those who identified the needs of people, created solutions and are consistent in their ways. Examples are the CEO of Facebook, Founder of Microsoft, the CEO of Dangote group of companies’ et al…
ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN NURSING
Nursing entrepreneurship provides nurses with self-employment opportunities which allow them to pursue their personal vision and passion to improve health outcomes using innovative approaches, a nurse entrepreneur is considered as a proprietor of a business that offers nursing services of a direct care, educational, research, administrative or consultative nature. The use of creativity to develop a new idea, improve services or delivery methods or develop new products or new ways to use existing products is a fundamental characteristic of entrepreneurship.
METHODS OF IDENTIFYING AND DEVELOPING THE ENTREPRENEUR IN YOU
It is important to note that every individual has entrepreneurship ability but most are afraid of taking risks, afraid of failure and are also scared of breaking new grounds.
The under listed are the ways and steps to develop an entrepreneurship spirit and mind set.
1. IDENTIFY PROBLEMS AND EXAMINE YOUR INTEREST.
The first step in becoming an entrepreneur is to build a “strong foundation” This is done by carefully identifying the needs of people around you and thinking of a way to meet the needs. In meeting the needs, you analyze your area of interests, examine your talents, and identify your personality strengths and weakness. It is important to start a business in areas where you have endless interest; this will make it easy for you in the times of challenges, as the interest and passion will keep you going.
2. CHALLENGE YOURSELF TO FIND OPPORTUNITIES
This is a step is the action phase in becoming an entrepreneur. Successful entrepreneurs are those who make good use of opportunities that comes their way, they don’t just wait for these opportunities, they search for them, and they yearn for them. In this step, you highlight your business potentials, the kind of business you could develop with your skills. Also, write down all ideas, no matter how stupid or useless it may sound to you; just write it down because you might need it later
Do a lot of thinking, don’t be lazy in thinking, be generous in your thinking, it costs you nothing. Great entrepreneurs think outside the box, they think extraordinarily, they pay attention to every detail and are resilient in nature. Before you become an entrepreneur, prepare your mind for initial failure, this gives way to outright success eventually. There is no success story without some hitch; the ability to overcome the failures and be resilient is what makes an entrepreneur great. We all know the story of the man who made our electric bulb; he tried over 900 times before eventually making it. As an entrepreneur, quitting shouldn’t be in your dictionary.
Eventually when you start the business, be unique, be brave and happy. Brand yourself and let people be able to identify your works or services, have a logo, a website, or a mobile application.

3. SEEK ADVICE FROM SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEURS.
this is the sustenance stage, find businesses related to what you are doing or what or want to do, do a critical background study, study how they operate, their past mistakes, failures and successes. It is important to have professional role models and mentors, in choosing these people don’t just choose anyhow, choose people who you respect, peo0ple who have made it in your area of interest or business field. More importantly, believe in God and entrust yourself business in Him, for it is HE who gives the ability to produce wealth.
In conclusion, nurses in the contemporary age must develop their mindset and skills in entrepreneurship. It is time for us to be more financially independent. Entrepreneurship increases our managerial and leadership ability thus increasing our chances in health reformation and policy making. In developing yourself as an entrepreneur, be resilient, be generous in thinking, be determined, be focused and be happy. Determination, hard work and resilience are the only keys to success.

yea,I quite agree that's a strong point u just raised. The question still is ,what. Are those opportunities u think Nigerian nurses shld embrace? Most RN's work in private hospitals with meagre salaries and would gladly leave once they find a greener pasture. And most of us struggle hard to leave the country cos we feel working abroad is a bed of roses.pls enlighten us with your experience on how to enjoy and leave comfortably with this noble profession.

Sorry am not a nurse but we help nurses seeking for BSN upgrade from Nigerian RN in Philippines schools at a very affordable rates, the duration is just 18months.

After your BSN over there, you can decide to register and sit for Enclex exams if you wish to work in Canada or the USA. You can also register and take DAAT exams if you wish to work in Dubai or UAE. You can also decide to come back here for your NYSC and then work here cus the degree is very acceptable here.

Admission is currently on for August batch and the process is very simple and straightforward. We have our partners there that would process everything then send your admission letter, which you would use with your credentials to process your VISA

You can give us a call on 08051121755, we are based in Gbagada Lagos
