Hmmmm..... I think I see the wisdom in your suggestion. That way we keep our Main U-20 stars busy and prepared for France 2018 and also expose them to some Senior team experience alongside some of the home based Super Falcons Stars.... smiley

I think I like that.

PDPGuy:
For the WAFU Cup, the NFF should use most of the Falconets team (say 14-15 players) and a few of the older league players.

Nice step by the NFF... Using mainly of the Present Superfalconet stars for the Wafu cup is a good idea.. But some of the Superfalcon well known home based stars would have been included...
Tochukwu Oluehi,,, Gladys Akpa,, Blessing Edoho,, Evelyn Nwabuoku,, Onyinyechi Ohadugha,, Cecilia Nku,, Glory Iroka,, Amarachi Okoronkwo,, Ijeoma Obi..

Mercy Idoko upbeat about Nigeria's qualification chances vs. Cameroon
By Samuel Ahmadu, Correspondent

The forward believes her side has what it takes to subdue the Junior Lionesses and qualify for the U17 Women's World Cup
Nigeria U17 women forward Mercy Idoko believes her side can dismiss Cameroon in the first round, first leg of the U17 Women's World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

The Flamingoes squeezed past Ethiopia in the first round and will be hoping to earn a first leg advantage as they chase their sixth appearance in Uruguay later this year.
And the Confluence Queens star says they are fully prepared for the tough encounter at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium against the central African, who piped Algeria 11-0 on aggregate.

“The team we have now is fully ready for the game and I don't think anything can stop from winning on Saturday," Idoko told
Goal.
"Cameroon are not a threat to us because the coaches have prepared us enough for the match. The confidence within us is very high and we are determined to carry the day.
"We know for sure that it will be a tough match but we will make Cameroon understand that we are not Algeria and that they should also expect a different Flamingoes team.

"We are all motivated to make the country proud and we believe we have what it takes to beat them and qualify for this year's World Cup.

"We hope to take determination and teamwork into the game. Our coaches are super wonderful with the training they've given us and we assure Nigerians that we are going to win."

A big win in Benin City will see Nigeria edge closer to secure one of Africa's tickets to the World Cup before the second leg in Yaoundé in a fortnight.

Cameroon U17 women arrive in Benin City for Nigeria
By Samuel Ahmadu, Correspondent

The Baby Lionesses landed safely in Nigeria on Thursday for their U17 World Cup qualifier against the Flamingoes

Cameroon U17 women team landed in Benin City on Thursday evening ahead of their Fifa U17 Women's World Cup qualifier clash with Nigeria on Saturday.

The Baby Lionesses, who crushed Algeria 10-0 on aggregate to reach the final stage, arrived in Lagos on Wednesday before connecting to the Edo state capital a day after.
Upon their arrival, the central Africans were lodged at the Best Western Hotel in Benin City and they will have a feel of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium pitch on Friday evening.

The Cameroonians are hoping for the second appearance at the showpiece after making their debut in 2016 as they will anticipate a first-leg lead against Nigeria.

Team's head coach Birwe Minkreo will rely on the red-hot form of duo Alice Kameni and Marie Ngah to upset the Flamingoes in front of their home fans.
The 16-national women’s youth international competition is scheduled to hold from November 13 to December 1, 2018.

Mabo frowns as NFF moves to ‘phase out’ old Super Falcons players
By Gowon Akpodonor

Former Super Falcons coach, Ismaila Mabo has warned the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) of the consequences of phasing out the entire old players in the senior national team because of their alleged role in the protest over unpaid wages after the last Women Nations Cup in Cameroun in December 2016.
On Tuesday , the NFF unveiled new Super Falcons’ Head Coach , Thomas Dennerby , his Swedish assistant , Jorgen Petersson , with all four coaches , who led the team to capture the title in Cameroun dropped . In their place, the football house announced four new assistants , Oni Olanrewaju Wemimo , Maureen Mmadu , Taiwo Omobolanle Tundun and Precious Dede .
And on Wednesday , the NFF rolled out a new set of players for the senior national team without a single mention of those who were part of the victory in Cameroun . The ‘ new ’ Super Falcons will fly the nation ’ s flag at the maiden WAFU Women Cup of Nations holding in Cote d ’ Ivoire, from February 10 – 24 .
Speaking with The Guardian , Mabo warned the NFF that phasing out the entire old generation of the senior players at once could be counter productive for the country .
“ What criteria did the NFF use in inviting these new set of players ? Mabo asked . “ A new set of coaches has just been named and one should expect them to have a mixture of the old players and some new faces for the WAFU Cup competition. If the NFF wants to punish the players and their coaches for their role in the protest after winning the Nations Cup for Nigeria, then they are making a big mistake . The NFF is directly or indirectly digging a pit for the new coach and his assistants to fall in . Such action by the NFF will never end well . I was expecting a situation where over 80 percent of the players that featured at the Nations Cup in Cameroun will be part of this new team . Anything less than that is a wrong step on the part of the NFF, ” Mabo stated .
Contacted on the issue , the first vice president of the NFF, Seyi Akinwunmi said : “ I am not a member of the Technical Committee, but as a matter of fact , I don’ t want to agree that the NFF is punishing anybody for her role in that protest in Abuja in 2016 . ”

Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by TheSuperNerd(m): 12:13pm On Feb 02, 2018
I think Mabo has nothing to worry about really.... The likes of Oshoala and Onome Ebi were present at the unveiling of the new SF coach signifying they and other senior members of the squad are still very much in the picture and again you don't expect them and other pros outside the country to be part of this wafu team.

This wafu is an opportunity to unleash some of our best on the local scene mixed with some of the U-20 girls- to further aid their prep for the U-20 WC in France.

The list is okay. A fine mix of U-20s and Home based SF stars.

Talking about unleashing stars of our League...! Why was the likes of Tochukwu Oluehi,, Blessing Edoho,, Evelyn Nwabuoku,, Onyinyechi Ohadugha,, Cecilia Nku,, Glory Iroka,, patience Kalu,, Ijeoma Obi and Tessy Biahwo Not included in the present list.. Are they not playing in our league here.?
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Schemerkhiz: 1:59pm On Feb 02, 2018
Mr Mabo might be speaking his mind but I don't think that is true, because excluding our star players like
Alaba Jonathan
Osinachi Ohale
Faith Ikidi
Onome Ebi
Ngozi Ebere
Ugo Njoku
Rita Chikwelu
Halimatu Ayinde
Ngozi Okobi
Desire Oparanozie
Fransisca Ordega
Asisat Oshoala,
Ebere Orji
Sarah Michael.. Etc would be a big blow to the team.. Let wait and see the list of players they would be invited for the Friendly game against France. Before we would conclude.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 2:29pm On Feb 02, 2018
If NFF truly does punish the players who were protesting, then they will break down and ruin the whole team. Players who didnt protest will be seen as snitches, while the new players brought in wont trust each other. NFF will not be able to handle the backlash.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Schemerkhiz: 4:57pm On Feb 02, 2018
NFF should be joking about their plan of letting the top notch players who won the 2016 Edition of the AWCON....
Ngozi Okobi for example is one of the best Superfalcons have in the Midfield... The current Eskilstuana United of Sweden Attacking midfielder is in the class of her own! Though she is light weight but she has a nice way of getting past her markers.. One of the most skillful player Superfalcon has. Her work in the Midfield is tremendous, I hope coach Thomas Dennerby play her in her most suitable position..

I think the Following midfielders are good to go with the Superfalcon...
1. Rita Chikwelu 29yrs Kristianstand Dff Sweden
2. Ngozi Okobi 24yrs Eskilstuana United Sweden
3. Halimatu Ayinde 22yrs---- don't no present club yet
4. Osarenoma igbinovia 21yrs Bayelsa Queens Nigeria
5. Evelyn Nwabuoku 32yrs Rivers Angels Nigeria
6. Onyinyechi Ohadugha 26yrs Rivers Angels Nigeria
7. Cecilia Nku 24yrs Rivers Angels Nigeria
8. Glory Iroka 28yrs Rivers Angels Nigeria
9. Amarachi Okoronkwo 24yrs Nasarawa Amazons Nigeria.
10. Tessy Biahwo 19yrs Bayelsa Queens Nigeria.

@the bolded, wow... is she still playing?
That lady was so promising. I remember her playing on the flanks in jersey no 8 @ U-20 FIFA WOMEN's WORLD CUP along side Sunday Esther, Desire Oparanozie etc. They lost the in the final to the German ladies.

I think you are talking about Ebere Orji...25yrs old
She is very much active, she currently plays for Swedish club side Umea Ik, she has pace, strong on both feet and deadly in front of goal. She last played for the Superfalcon during the qualifiers for the 2016 Edition of the AWCON in Cameroon against Senegal.
