SEED CULTIVATION GUIDE FOR HOT PEPPER (TECHNISM SEEDS FRANCE)

(1) Tillage before planting - Plough, harrow and make beds.Avoid clay soil.Select a good soil medium for raising seedlings. The soil should be rich, well drained and free from diseases, insects and pests.A soil mixture consisting of compost and top soil in equal proportions can be use in making seedbed or filled in seed trays for raising the seedlings.
Fertilization : 30ton/hectare of manure 1 month before planting.

2. Sowing : Sowing in nursery on seedbed or broadcast sowing substrate (Light).Water the nursery very well a day before sowing the seeds.2 to 3 seeds per hole.Water every morning at moderate rate.A watering can is preferable.Over watering may make the plant soft and susceptible to diseases such as damping off.Make seedbed of 1m long and allow 1m part way in between bed.

3.Germination : it takes 6 to 15 days .Soil pH: 5.5 to 6.8.

4.Transplanting : 30 to 40 days. Density: 20,000 to 26,000 plants per hectare at 50 to 70cm between rows and 20 to 30cm between plants.

5. Fertilization: 100kg/hectare of Urea one week after transplanting.

6. Flowering: NPK fertilizer. 15 to 50kg per hectare of N,25 to 100kg/hectare of P and K requires 3 weeks after transplanting.

7. Fertilization: 100kg of K during flowering.
8.Irrigation : Regular water supply is recommended.

9.Pests and Diseases: (i) Bacterial gall.
symptoms: Little black spots, yellowing, brown galls on fruits.
Control measure: Have good Farming practices.Eliminate crop residues.Make crop rotation ; Pepper should not be grown on the same land 3 to 4yrs.Remove and destroy the affected plant.Get resistance seed variety for planting.
(ii) Sigatoka. Symptoms: Light gray spots with yellow ring.

GENERAL CROP ADVICE.
* Crop Rotation: Avoid soil diseases accumulation.Make 3 to 6 long circles.Take care of the choice of species to Introduce in crop rotation.
* Tillage : Before planting to facilitate plant development, eliminate weeds and incorporate basal application .Do not plough too deep ( maximum 30/40cm). Avoid clay soil.
* Drainage and Ridge : During raining season favour drainage and Ridge cultivation to limit soil diseases.
* Controlled and Treated Seeds : Ensure varietal purity and high germination quality which guarantee the absence of seed-borne diseases.
* Sowing in plastic trays : It help to favor a better and homogeneous germination and transplanting. If you need seed trays for nursery we have available for you.You can contact us on that.
*Transplanting: Reduce planting density when using hybrid seed varieties because they are more vigorous.

SEED CULTIVATION GUIDE FOR CARROT (TECHNISM SEEDS
FRANCE)

(1) Soil Preparation: Carrot seeds are small and are sown directly in the field. It is therefore most important that the soil be thoroughly prepared, with a level, fine, soil surface. Deep ploughing or working to loosen the soil to a depth of at least 30 cm is important to allow good root development. A chisel plough is recommended to work the soils to this depth. Sub-soiling can be advantageous in breaking compacted soil layers. It is preferable that soil be raised and bedded in order to obtain optimum drainage and soil depth to maximise root length and smoothness. This is because a loosed soil favors carrot.Avoid clay soil by all means.

Fertilization : Apply manure or fully decomposed compost in the farmland at 25t/hectare one month before sowing.

2. Sowing : The ideal planting depth depends on the environmental conditions but the ideal depth between is between 4cm and 5cm. It must be noted that at shallower depths the seed can be affected by the weather conditions on the surface . Direct sowing in rows or broadcast sowing followed by thinning (4 - 5cm).

3.Germination :Direct sowing in a good Soil pH: 5.8 to 6.8. after soil pH level is assertained. Density: 1.200,000 to 1.600,000 plants per hectare.

4. Thinning : Spacing after thinning at 15 by 5cm.

5. Fertilization: 50kg/hectare of Urea after thinning,again 15 days after.15 to 50kg/hectare of N, 25 to 75kg/hectare of P and K 45 days after thinning.

6.Irrigation : Regular water supply is recommended.Carrots are most sensitive to moisture stress during root enlargement and seed germination. carrots require approximately 900 mm of water per crop cycle (70 to 115 days depending on variety cultivated) Since small carrot seeds are unable to emerge when surface crusting occurs and can be burnt off if surface temperatures are too high, irrigation during the pre-emergence period revolves around maintaining a moist, cool, loose soil surface. For the remainder of the season, the available soil moisture should not be depleted by more than 50%.

7.Pests and Diseases: (i) Alternaria ( Alternaria porri )
symptoms: Brown galls and yellowing of Leaves.
Control measure: Use treated controlled seeds. Use Fungicides.E eliminate crop residues.Reduce planting density.Avoid Nitrate excess.
(ii) Sigatoka. Symptoms: Circular brown spots turning into straw coloured lesions.
Control measure: Same control procedures with Alternaria disease.
(iii) Powdery Mildew. Symptoms: White pellicle on leaves.Leaves start drying.
Control measure: Eliminate weeds.Apply Fungicide.
(iv) Mouche de la carotte ( Psila rosae ).
Symptoms: Leaf wilf, yellowing of Leaves, mined roots.
Control measures: Do crop rotation and use insecticides.
(v) Rootknot Nematode. Symptoms: Root galls, leaf yellowing.
Control measure: Use Manure .Destroy contaminated
plants.Flood the plot and make crop rotation.
(vi) Pourriture noire ( Alternaria Radicina )
Symptoms: Damping off, spots ranging from yellow to black.
Control measure: Use treated and controlled seeds.Have good Farming practices.Make crop rotation.Use Fungicide.

GENERAL CROP ADVICE.
* Crop Rotation: Avoid soil diseases accumulation.Make 3 to 6
long circles.Take care of the choice of species to Introduce in
crop rotation.
* Tillage : Before planting to facilitate plant development, eliminate
weeds and incorporate basal application .Do not plough too deep
( maximum 30/40cm). Avoid clay soil.
* Drainage and Ridge : During raining season favour drainage and
Ridge cultivation to limit soil diseases.
* Controlled and Treated Seeds : Ensure varietal purity and high
germination quality which guarantee the absence of seed-borne
diseases.
*Mulching: Keep humidity and reduce water supply. In the case of
high humidity,risk of fungal diseases.
* Fertilization: This guarantees yeild,avoid deficiencies.Also avoid
excess fertilizers.Get the required amount needed and apply
same.
* Weeding: Eliminate weeds and reduce pathogens shelters.
Regular weeding also limit competition with other plants.
* Pesticides: Eliminate pests and diseases.Respect homologation
and recommendations for use.Do not overdose.Use plant
protection products.
10. Harvest: There can be very marked differences between yields of different plantings of a vegetable crop, depending on the cultivar or variety selected, and on the environmental conditions prevailing during the growth of the crop. Even larger differences in yield between crops can be ascribed to the cultural practices applied, and to the relative expertise of the individual grower or farmer. Different farmers consistently achieve good yields of good quality, while others produce poor crops all as a result of management. The average expected per hectare with good management practice is 10 to 15 tonnes.

I believe this should help guide someone on carrot seeds
cultivation. This is not a lecture actually, but a support guide for you.For good hybrid Carrot seeds and other seeds purchase, Organic fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides and herbicides do reach
SEEDWORLD by call, text message or WhatsApp on 07982638957 . Thank u for the time.Do have a wonderful and productive day ahead.
