Last week, I Posted about A.B.U being among the teams representing Nigeria at the Shell Eco Marathon (SEMA) competition in South Africa. This year only two Universities are representing Nigeria the other being last year's winners Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun.

The events kicked off with an opening ceremony which took place on Thursday at the college of Electrical Engineering, University of Johannesburg South Africa.

The Teams arrived South Afirca a few days before the start of the events. This was to allow them make final adjustments and also practice with their Vehicles on the famous Zwartkops Raceway Tracks.

Earlier today, the competing teams underwent Scrutineering to ensure Complete compliance with technical and safety rules of all cars during any moment of racing. The vehicles where also weighed. As stated in Previous Post, Speed is not the most important thing at SEMA but rather Energy Efficiency.

Aisha Ummu Ummu of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria was the Nigerian Flag Bearer during the Lap of Honor at the start of today's actvities.
