Under Peter Obi, Anambra health sector was on strike for a total of 3 years out of 8years. At a point they were on a straight 13 months strike. http://www.myfinancialintelligence.com/content/doctors-call-13-month-old-strike-anambra http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/02/doctors-call-off-13-month-old-strike-in-anambra/ AWKA—DOCTORS in the employ of Anambra State government yesterday called off their 13 months old strike. The action was suspended when it apparently became obvious that the state government was not ready to shift ground on the 60 percent salary increase it offered the doctors when the strike began last year. The Medical Association, NMA, in the state, headed by Dr. Emmanuel Ekwesianya and the state government team, headed by Secretary to the State Government, Chief Paul Odenigbo, signed the agreement in Awka calling off the strike. The doctors embarked on the strike over the state government’s alleged refusal to implement the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure, CONMESS, approved for doctors working in government-owned hospitals in the country. Ekwesianya said despite efforts to make government shift ground, it remained rigid on the 60 percent increase it offered to pay the doctors when negotiations began. He said the doctors decided to call off the strike in the interest of the patients, adding that it was not good for the doctors to remain as rigid as government on the issue as people were suffering. “We are serving the people and not government and we observe that it is the people that have continued to suffer over the past 13 months the doctors have been on strike,” he said. 1 Like

Abagworo:lol strike is part of civil demand, it's part of democracy, during mbadinuju administration, it was even worst. Strike do happen in all states of the federation. In addition Obi does not spend money anyhow, you can not just wake up and demand salary hike when you know that state government has offer 60% increased, Obi I know will never go into any deal that will put Ndi Anambra in financial crunch, his An Economic governor and a finances will work on paper first before it will be workable physically. |

realglobe: @realglobe. ngige did his best in sitation he found himself, obi did beta obiano sud be greater than the two. obiano's aids are the ones tryin to rewrite history. i am waitin for obiano to officially denied wat he campaigned wit and confirmed upon takin power. wat were d liabilities investments by way of uncompleted projected and investment in blue chip coys. NBS said Anambra has d highest poverty rate? which report is that, pls cite d yr? kia una like PHD syndrome same will said of obiano after 8yrs. pls briefly tell d house d events in ngige's last two yrs and d state in which obi met anambra? u make it luk lik d ova three yrs of ngige was peaceful and fanastic. so it is obi dat spoonsored the mayham dat almost destroyed anambra? d 2014 NBS report was disputed by my likes wen it dat stated dat osun was beta. bt today we all kno d truth. i av contiued to maintain dat all anambra needs is peace, security and stability, and dev wil naturally take place cos God has blessed them it d talent to do well in good ventures so if any body tells u dat abia or ebonyi, ekitti or kogi, sokoto or taraba is beta than anambra with regards to poverty rate u will agreee? i find it difficult to understand why headboy of the south east is peopled by those wantin to destroy their own modest efforts. no leader can do it all. one of the gud thin is dat sucessors are buildin on wat dey met to beta d society and ur energy sud be chanelled in makin obiano beta, obi has had his day. and for anybody to dispute a claim such person must throw up facts with sources such as finding from the banks whether moni was left and finding out d sources of the liabilities and hw much. 1 Like |

o42austino:What do you expect, they are doing the job they are employed to do. Forget their propaganda, we all know the truth. We all know the history of our state, how it was rescued from the hands of few greedy individuals by Ngige and how it was turn to a viable state my Obi. I still remember staying at home for almost two years between 2001 to 2002 due to strike by teachers in the state. Then i was still in secondary school. I still remember how anambra was turned to war zone by criminals and bakassi boys that one can't move from one junction to another with out seeing a decapitated body.Thank God for what anambra has turned out to be today. Kudos to everyone that contributed in one way or the other for the growth of the state. 1 Like |

Adannaify: [b] Anambra, Sokoto target 2025 to end open defecation By Emma Elekwa, Awka & Rakiya A. Muhammad, Sokoto | Publish Date: Oct 19 2016 2:00AM Anambra, Sokoto target 2025 to end open defecation Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano Anambra State government has expressed its readiness to end open defecation by 2025 through encouraging citizens to build toilets in all motor parks, markets, hospitals and other public places. The Commissioner for Power and Domestic Water Development, Obi Nwankwo, stated this in a chat with journalists in Awka as part of activities to mark the 2016 global Hand Washing Day with the theme ‘Making Hand Washing a Habit’. He explained that the water supply sanitation sector reform programme 11 is partnering UNICEF in creating awareness on understanding the importance of hand washing with soap as an easy way of preventing diseases and saving lives. Nwankwo who disclosed that the open defecation free road map would be presented to the public same day, called on the people to be self-disciplined by defecating in toilets and washing their hands regularly. “We want to totally eradicate disease causing germs in our society. We have realised that some people still defecate in the open, so we want to eradicate it. We want to encourage people to build toilets and wash their hands regularly after using the toilet, after child management and before eating,” he said. He also announced that the wife of the state governor, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, would be crowned the ‘Wash Ambassador’ in recognition of her role in the provision of safe water, toilets and hand washing facilities to Anambra children, women and people living with disabilities. Similarly, plans are on towards the elimination of open defecation in Sokoto State, with 67 communities in Tangaza Local Government Area of the state already certified open defecation free (ODF) . The Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Arzika Tureta, who disclosed this while speaking on the rural water and sanitation efforts of the ministry, said in collaboration with UNICEF, six new local government areas of Bodinga, Gada, Tureta, Tambuwal, Silame and Dange/Shuni had been selected to work within the 2016 fiscal year. He said remarkable achievements were recorded in community approach to total sanitation (CATS) in Tangaza Local Government Area. “The programme is aimed towards the elimination of open defecation i.e. to have communities that are open defecation free, where nobody will defecate outside unless in the latrine,” he said. Tureta said community-led total sanitation (CLTS) had been executed in 60 new communities in Tangaza LGA while 1,980 water sanitation hygiene communities (WASHCOM) members, comprising 1,320 males and 660 females, were trained in 132 communities of the locality. Why would Peter Obi respond to a follow politician on that subject when the body responsible for such data has stated to the contrary?..... Just like the Latin word which education was driven from stated, you need to develop from within |
