Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigerian (MACBAN) on Saturday said its attention has been drawn to the “unscrupulous action of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State against our members who are bona fide citizens of the country.”

A statement by its spokesman, Baba Othman Ngelzarma, recalled that Fayose on Thursday inaugurated a vigilante group, Ekiti Grazing Enforcement Marshals (EGEM), popularly called ‘Anti-malu’ “in furtherance of his threat to banish our members from Ekiti State”.

It said Fayose unleashed the marshals “against our members whose herds of cattle had gone to a stream at Agon Bridge on Federal Polytechnic road between the time of 2:00 – 2:30 PM to quench their thirst on Friday 21st October 2016”.

Continuing, the statement sent to DAILY POST reads: “We have been reliably alerted an impeccable source in Ado- Ekiti that the Anti-maul vigilante group shot five cows and carted away with the meat but the herdsman was able to flee with the rest of his cattle.

“We are hereby constrained to implore the federal government through its security agencies to wade into this unprovoked and primitive aggression against our members, before this macabre incident develops into unquenchable inferno involving our members and Ekiti State government.

“No Cattle strayed into anybody’s farmland around that area in question. As such, the actions of the Anti-malu vigilante are not ant only provoking, but capable of creating uncontrollable scenarios whose ramification may go well beyond Ekiti State.

“As far as we know , Ekiti State is not an island of its own , but a State within the federal Republic of Nigeria and while the Governor is permitted to carry out actions geared towards protecting the interest of Ekiti State, such actions should follow the rule of law.

“We deplore this act of brigandage and call on Governor Ayodele Fayose to offer an unreserved apology to MACBAN, and equally set machinery in motion with a view to compensate our members who lost five cows in this primitive adventure.

“That the brutality of the Ekiti Grazing enforcement marshals (popularly known as Anti- malu) on herdsmen is even outside the time stipulated by that law (if the law exists at all).

“The federal overnment should therefore look into the actions and activities of this committee because we cannot fold our hands while the only means of survival of our members is taken away and destroyed.

“MACBAN has instructed victims of this aggression and its members nationwide to exercise maximum restrain while we work towards resolving this unfortunate incident through mature and civilized manners.

MACBAN further sympathized with the government of Kaduna State, Sokapu and entire Kaduna South inhabitants over the recent incident that had claimed so many lives as a result of a discord between our members and communities surrounding Godogodo environ.

“We see this act as an upsolute brutality exhibited by the perpetrators and condemnable in all its ramifications. We call on the security to do all it could to fish out and bring these criminals to book.”

Meanwhile, The Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Sokoto State Chapter, Alhaji Muhammadu Magaji, has warned its members not to graze their livestock on farm lands.

When in future we read headlines "1000 people killed in overnight raid at Ado Ekiti" who are we to blame? Ekiti people should rise up and prevent their State from being turned into a war zone. There's no difference between EGEM and cattle rustlers except of course that a Governor backed the rustling.

You go around killing people all in the name of grazing and scream when you get the same treatment for violating a law put in place of ekiti...

I wonder why MACBAN is calling on the president to intervene when the presidency already claimed the herdsmen are from Libya, niger and Chad, Fayose and his "anti malu" team are simply defending the people of ekiti from foreigners as posited by the C in C...SMH

Are you saying when there is a law, it shouldn't be enforced?

If that is the case buhari should send his soldiers back to Barracks and let us have peace.

The herdsmen should not be afraid of their cattle rather they should be afraid of the consequences of their actions.

If Ekiti state government don't kill herdsman impunity, herdsmen impunity will kill ekiti people.

Don't you agree?

This is interesting,
cattle rearers are now suing for peace instead of
their "attack then negotiate" tactics they usually
employ.

If the issue is rustling let them brand their cattle and then we can set up national or state database for the brands. This will work like trademarks. Making baseless threats is suicidal idea on herdsmen part.

Ekiti people are more likely to eat the cows without any consequences.
Seriously, why has the miyetti Allah kept quiet all this while when the cattle herders destroying other people's livelihoods.
This is one example of how our federal system is crooked. Every state should have the right to determine how animals are reared within it's boundary.

I dont like Fayose for once. His action are usually irrationals. This Ekiti anti malu law indeed is a nice project if he can reasonably fine tune n equip them.
But Fayose did not establish this project in the best interest of the people. He is doing it for the coming election.

Deliberately causing trouble for the citizens. This Ekiti farmers are not well defended n equipped to ward off the well organized Muyetti commandos wen these Animals retaliate

The fulanis will definitely retaliate because the Myetti Allah has just said that.
This has confirmed that Fulani herdsmen are not govern by nigeria law. The man can only go to court instead of threatening Ekiti people for the Governor Irrational decision.

The fulani has no right to threaten or subtlety inciting his men against the entire state.

Now it is obvious given Buhari pedigree to damn consequences would outrightly turn deaf ears to the crime when fulani will eventually retaliate

My point is its the people that will surfer when this issues eventually escalate

Fsyose wants trouble that will make his citizens fall in sympathy for him.

This will help him during his relection.

FG will turn blind
Fayose will ride on peoples blood back to Government house

But FG will still win by deliberately turning the state to anarchy n lawlessness thereby issuing state of emergency.

I am a Yoruba man. I have no allegiance to both Fayose or PDP or Jonathan or ApC or buhari.

I am on the side of the people of Ekiti.

If you have friends from Ekiti warn them to leave the state because of the great tribulation that is coming.

Fulani dont forget.
The only thing here is that If Ekiti people are equal to the evil ahead.

This not a case of justifying weda buhari is right or Fayose is Hero this is the blood of innocent people that will die after this warning from Miyetti Allah

Winter is coming....

I think Fayose is obviously aware of the consequence of his action and he is prepared for It. His major aim is to make the entire Yoruba people hate Hausa Fulani and to bring the menace of the Fulani herdsmen to the international arena.

I agree they farmers in video aren't ready with Antiquated arms but the police still follow his command. The herdsman are only tough when people aren't firing back at them. They don't have enough arms to fight a whole state and this will likely ripple over to other southern states to clamp down. They can take issue to court instead of sending threats.

They don't need to kill cattle. They should confiscate then after they arrest and jail violators. Then state should sell of cow to raise funds for state. If no buyers eat cow.

I already listed ways for farmers to protect themselves.
