A roller skating park is for poorbies. I'd prefer a roller skating park cos I can't Ice skate but An Ice skating rink is more impressive and can be used as a major tourism hotspot |

Again one more of the countless pipedreams, no ice-rink, this would have surprised me. I would have jumped out of joy if Nigeria has its own ice-rink |
Re: Ice Skating In Nigeria: At Silverbird Galleria by dblock(m): 11:55am On Mar 17, 2007 |

Re: Ice Skating In Nigeria: At Silverbird Galleria by Icon(m): 5:43pm On Mar 17, 2007 |
I was there yesterday and it's so not cool. There was no one in the "rink". It's just a small white surface , like the size of 2 boxing rings. Absolutely nothing to write home about. dblock: walelead: I'm in full support. Frist a good government, and all the rest will come. BTW, I would really love if we could have a bowling lane in Lagos. I was at the one in Abuja and it was really cool. I would pick bowling over skating any day. |

I believe there is already a bowling alley in Lagos. It's in some Residential estate in V.I, I'm not sure if it's open to outsides though |

walelead: link=topic=34238.msg969386#msg969386 date=1174150166]I was there sometime last year with some friends. It's quite a standard lane, and it's situated in a club. There were also pool tables and a bar. I believe Abuja should be able to give more details though dblock:Interesting! I must find out about it ASAP. |

@icon, Did you have to register for membership to use the facilities? Im gonna be in Abj for like 2-3 weeks so whats the point in becoming a member? I just wanna bowl every now and then and check out the club if its Live. |
Re: Ice Skating In Nigeria: At Silverbird Galleria by Icon(m): 3:04pm On Mar 18, 2007 |
No registration required. Once you have bowling partners, just go ahead and pay and you can start bowling. If i remember correctly, it's about N700 or N800 per game. |
Re: Ice Skating In Nigeria: At Silverbird Galleria by waleleader(m): 3:06pm On Mar 18, 2007 |
Thanks Icon, tI hink it very affordable for that price, thats just about £3 and standard bowling can be up to about £6 here. Thats cool sorry to bother you but what about the pool and the club? same rules? |
Re: Ice Skating In Nigeria: At Silverbird Galleria by Icon(m): 10:12am On Mar 20, 2007 |
I'm sorry i'm just replying this Walelead. I actually typed out a response and submitted but I'm surprised i'm not seeing it here. I believe the same rules go for the pool but I'm not sure about the club. Pool is about N500 per game. |
Re: Ice Skating In Nigeria: At Silverbird Galleria by Constantin: 9:07pm On Mar 20, 2007 |
ooohh please come on, Nigeria has so much to catch up in the entertainment sector. An ice-rink is nothing special nowadays, every emerging market of theis world has tons of those already. Apart from that Naija needs malls, malls, malls, malllssssssssssss till you drop cineplexes till you drop restaurants , bars like in any part of the world theme parks more hotels , I mean good international standard hotels: wHERE ARE THEY IN NIGERIA; DON´T TELL ME THAT NICON hOTEL IN ABUJA OR ´DA EKO IN LAGOS!! ALL THIS IS NOTHING SPECIAL!!! IT IS TODAY´S STANDARD AND IT IS EVEN THE MORE SAD THAT OUR COUNTRY LACKS ALL THOSE FACILITIES. NIGERIA IS NOT NIGER REPUBLIC BUT THE SIXTH LARGEST EXPORTER OF OIL AND THE STRANGEST THING IS THAT ALL THE NIGERIANS THAT CRY WE DO NOT NEED ALL THIS "WESTERN STUFF" ARE THE FIRST WHO ENJOY THOSE STANDARD ENTERTAINMENT FACILITIES WHEN THEY TRAVEL ABROAD! THIS COUNTRY CAN REALLY BE DISAPPOINTING ALL THIS IS NOT IMPORTED STUFF IT IS A MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY THAT COULD CREATE MILLIONS OF DIRECT AND INDIRECT JOBS IN OUR COUNTRYAND IT WOULD ADD A LOT TO NIGERIA´S ATTRACTIVENESS. FOREIGENERS SPEAK BADLY OF OUR COUNTRY NOT JUST BECAUSE IT IS BADLY GOVERNED BUT ALSO BECAUSE IT IS A FUCKING DULL PLACE WITH ABSOLUTELY FAR TOO FEW ENTERTAINMENT FACILITIES THE PALMS IS THAT ALL A COUNTRY THE SIZE OF NIGERIA CAN OFFER? WAKE UP NIGERIA WAKE UP THE WORLD IS NOT WAITING FOR YOU RECENTLY I HAVE READ THAT ANGOLA WILL SOON SURPASS NIGERIA IN ITS OIL PRODUCTION TO BECOME AFRICA´S LARGEST OIL PRODUCER THE WORST OF THE STORY IS THAT ANGOLA HAS EMERGED OUT OF WAR 4 YEARS AGO AND NOW SOOOO MUCH IS GEETING BUILT NIGERIA WAKE UP PLEASE!!!!! I BEG , oooooo |

Re: Ice Skating In Nigeria: At Silverbird Galleria by dblock(m): 7:53am On Mar 21, 2007 |
Constantin the reason why Nigeria is stagnant and that Most Nigerians detest such developments is all due to Corruption and Poverty. Nigeria fell behind a long time ago, but if Nigeria can get a good president with a good administration, reforms can carry on that may gradually make corruption a thing of the past. You talk about Retail facilities, Hotels restaurants etc. Well I have a task for Nigerian entrepreneurs, and that is to think big and expand. Businesses like SilverBird should be expanding and adding more facilities across the nation, and should even be thinking of going abroad. One thing I have noticed about Nigeria is that Everyone wants to do this and that. Nigeria has thousands of Banks, but how many are actually "Real Banks", Nigeria has a number of Airlines but how many can actually transport people safely?. The government should build three massive Business Universities, One in Northern Nigeria, One in South Eastern Nigeria and One in the South West. These univeristies should be built with lots of money (Yes I said it, lots of money) Call it a waste of money If you want but those Universities should be built as though Nigeria was Dubai or something. The Government should make tuition fees enrollment cheap. Also The government has to make a minimum level of Investment for each sectors, this Will encourage MERGERS. Nigeria has one of the World's largest Black Markets, but this needs to change, we need a Proper Transparent Market that makes it mandatory to make it Big. South Africa is doing that so why can't Nigeria. MTN, Shoprite, Comair, Game, Nu Metro, Baygen and Cell C are all S.A companies that have made it Big. My dream is that Nigerian entrepreneurs will challenge the Government to new levels. If Nigerian companies can rise up and invest then Things such as Ice Skating Rinks will be nuffin Nigeria has hope, as long as this planet is here |
