A petrol tanker fully loaded with PMS, went up in flames yesterday afternoon at Saapade area of Lagos Ibadan expressway. However, there was no casualty in the accident.

Driving on that road is very dangerous. Petrol tankers always moving in numbers in broad daylight. Tankers should move at night and their speed limit should be controlled.

The road safety people need to make and enforce safety regulations for these tankers in particular. There has to be something wrong that causes fires to break out so easily and so often in accidents. Making it a must for vehicles to have fire extinguishers is just a plaster for the sore... the sore need to be taken care of.

It happened in my presence, bt wat baffled me most yesterday was the FRSC officials that were presence at the scene, instead of them diverting the cars or call for fire fighters, one of them was busy taking pictures.
