10. Vinnie Jones, threatening to murder flight passengers

Former Leeds United, Wimbledon and Chelsea midfielder Vinnie Jones was known for his brutal tackles and his violent approach to games. His arrogant and violent demeanor wasn’t confined to football only; he is a cocky person in real life as well. The footballer turned actor has been involved in many incidents. For example, Vinnie Jones threatened to murder an entire cabin crew back in 2003. The incident happened during a flight to Los Angeles. Jones was sentenced to 80 hours of community service and also had to pay compensations for his violent rage and obscene language.

9. Rene Higuaita, part of a kidnapping plot

Most people remember the Colombian former goalkeeper Rene Higuaita for his icon scorpion kick, but few know that he was once involved in a kidnapping plot.The flamboyant goalie was not accused of kidnapping per se,but he was accused of arranging and profiting from a kidnap. Drug trafficking, kidnapping and football are the epitome of Colombia,a country that has been plagued by social unrest,corruption and drug wars. Rene Higuaita was involved in the kidnapping of an 11-years-old girl, the daughter of a drug lord. He was arrested and sentenced to 7 months in prison. The charges were eventually dropped, though.

8. Charles N’Zogbia, driving test fraud

People try to game the system all the time. Some get away with it, others are caught. French winger Charles N’Zogbia was arrested after sending someone else to do the driving test for him. Back in 2003, N’Zogbia was playing for Wigan Athletic. He was arrest at a driving test center in Altrincham, part of the Greater Manchester area. N’Zogbia tried to fool the authorities by sending someone else to take the theory section on his behalf, but with no success. False representation is an offence in almost every country. Fortunately, the French got away with a caution.

7. Glen Johnson, stealing a toilet seat

Why would anyone in their right mind try to steal a bathroom fitting? Well, you’d have to ask Glen Johnson for that. In 2007, the English right-back was actually caught attempting to steal a toilet seat in Dartford, Kent. At the time Johnson was playing for Portsmouth on loan from Chelsea; he was earning up to £30,000 per week. Why would he steal a toilet seat in the first place? One worker at the store said, “We all recognized Johnson. They seemed to find the whole thing funny and couldn’t stop smirking even after they had been arrested. ” It’s moronic and downright absurd.

6. Diego Maradona, shooting journalists with an air rifle

Diego Armando Maradona is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all-time. Despite his brilliant footballing prowess,the Argentine legend was not a model off the pitch. Maradona was always lambasted for his obscene language, his drug abuse, alcoholism and his lack of self-control in general.Back in 1994, the Argentine shot photographers and journalists with an air rifle. Four people were injured. TV footage showed Maradona and two other men shoot from behind a Mercedes. He was sentenced to two years and 10 months in prison for his assault.
