The battle of wits between labour and government of Ogun State during the ongoing indefinite strike action continues, with each side throwing subs and saying they are the ones with the best interests of the people at heart.

The labour leaders continue to point to various areas and times the government of the day have reneged on its agreements with workers while the government points fingers at the labour leaders, accusing them of playing partisan politics, without calling labour to the negotiation table.

Given this antagonistic attitude of the government, it's no surprise (and somewhat comical really) that labour has alleged that its leaders have been targeted and attacked by thugs reportedly working for some people affiliated with the government of Ibikunle Amosun. Labour leaders have literally fled to the bush and have taken to addressing workers from inside forest using their phones as shown in these videos because of fear for their lives.

Are we back in the Abacha years? Yorùbá, ronú oooo

I have said it before and will continue screaming it out loud and clear until it turns to be our way of life

The best way to settle things is through dialogues.. The government at all times should try their possible best to pay all workers their due and where this is not possible, communicate to the people through their labor leaders with a promise to do something worthwhile if things turn out better

I know labor leaders can never just take these decisions without loopholes to exploit

Nigeria must be great in my time

The workers should be considerate with their demand which should commensurate with what the state government can pay.The recession is also adversely affecting the government and this should rather make the workers to sit up and work diligently instead of making outrageous demand whereas we all know in Nigeria that most civil servant get paid with a below par performance in executing their duties.

This is shameful, workers can not live comfortably in their houses again because of thugs employed in proxy by power that be, Awolowo State has now become a laughing stock due to the fact jokers are in power, the Governor has been insensitive to the plight of the workers even calling them unprintable names all because of the fact that the ask of their right, no one ask the Governor what he does with Security vote and other unaccounted monies in their position, Ogun state workers can hardly feed their families, he wants to turn Ogun state to another Osun state.

I pray things go back to normal soon because families are suffering.

All these Nigerian Governors usually show their bad side when they win second term, they become more brutal and careless about their people, look at Oshiohomole (With the Go and Die stuff), may God save us from evil Governors and politicians at large.

Amosun is not behaving like a democrat. In a democracy like ours, opposition leaders should not be afraid for dear life to voice their discontent. There should be an atmosphere of dialogue and everyone should be able to sit down in a round table to make their grievances known.

You obviously don't understand the crux of the issue. There is a monthly deduction that workers save in cooperatives from their monthly salary. This money is remitted to the cooperatives by the state government. For the past fourteen months, the government has failed to remit this money leaving the workers with no option but to embark on an industrial action.

Rather than seek dialogue with the civil servants, the governor made an indecorous statement calling them "brainless and senseless". He also unleashed his thugs on them which made the union leaders to go into hiding.
Ogun State is under a siege. A pall of dictatorship has enveloped the state. We must all join hands to resist this evil.
