Governor Udom Emmanuel has directed the cancellation of the recruitment of 5,000 teachers conducted by the State Secondary Education Board in 2015.

In a press release signed by the Head of Service, Mrs Ekerebong Akpan and made available to Newspapers, the government declared null and void all letters of appointment earlier issued to the affected persons by the State Secondary Education Board

It's rather unfortunate that many families and individuals and see being rendered jobless in this harsh period, people who had hinged their joy and hope of escape from poverty on the 50k stipends the job was supposed to provide I had a friend whose joy knew no bounds when she got this employment, as a graduate she had been unemployed for 4yrs. It's saddening, really saddening.
Whatever the real reason may be for government's action , I'm sure money isn't part of it because Akwa ibom has enough money to pay them double their salaries without batting an eyelid. I guess they're being sacrificed on the alter of political sacrifice in the name of due process. Sadly.

I was in Uyo over the weekend for a wedding and was so dismayed at the sight of refuse hipped and littered all over the place, i was really disappointed because it something i didn't see in that town for over 7years whenever i visit.
