I am having a problem on my Toshiba satellite running Vista. I have a problem with the task bar freezing. I need to restart all the time by clicking on the bottom of the screen. It just trips off and you have to put it on again? Had the same prob with my HP. The battery is bad. If you continue to use this battery after ac power is off, it will continue to go bad. It will get to a stage where your HP will go off even when battery is completely full. You simply must change the battery, it costs a little above 12000 naira. Another option is to change the power plan by clicking the battery icon on the taskbar. Change the power plan such that the HP goes into hibernation/sleep or shuts down when battery remains 30 mins. This way you wont be losing any data. Good luck

Does this happen only on battery? Remove the battery and try starting your HP only on ac. Does it still trip off? If it does, then you should check the power plan on the windows taskbar.

my computer doesn't start up, the fan keeps on running then stopping.
it eventually started up to a screen that reads ''Non-System disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready".
i do not have any disks in the drive.

bring up run and type cmd press enter. black screen
will appear type in powercfg/hibernate on press enter

without following the advice i gave. is from Hp themselves
if you like can replace the battery. is your choice i do
recommend doing the battery test.

The power button on my laptop used to light a stable green color. Now its flashing red.

instruct on what to do that what the error message means

Are you sure is the power button not wireless button ?

What make and model is your laptop ?

At what point does this happen ? e.g. when power on
or when running on battery. green indicate charging is ok

red means battery is flat and need charging or wireless
internet problems

You see that's the problem. But the power button and battery-charge indicator are red. They're usually green.
I cant rem the model, the charger has been plugged into the laptop, but still red.

i recommend checking manufacturer website for any updates etc.

certainly you can increase to 2GB or more. worth checking manu website

increasing ram will also increase efficiency. the only side effect is if you

installed the wrong ram which can cause further problem

Windows defender is much like an insider.

Antivirus software such as AVG, MAcafee
are outsider. I recommend downloading

Disconnect all external devices you have.

Unplug the power adapter from the notebook.
Remove the battery from the notebook (if possible).

Press the power button and hold it for at least 15 seconds.
Reconnect the power adapter.

Do not yet reconnect the external devices, they should stay disconnected. Do not yet reseat the battery.
Switch your computer on and test if it boots normally and watch if the power LED lights up.

If the power LED still does not lights up, continue with the next steps.
Disconnect the power adapter from the notebook.

Press the power button and hold it for at least 15 seconds.
Reseat the battery. Do not reconnect the power adapter.

Switch your computer on and test if it boots normally.
