I have a bsc in computer Engineering and a masters in information techology with distinction and have CCNA and Itil certification finished school when i was 20 years early and worked for telecoms company.

I joined my company 4 years ago hoping to be a technical support specialist, this was my job position in my previous company, but along the line i was told i will be a junior project manager.

I was first drafted to a Junior project manger role, this made me acquire the PMP and prince2 certification.
Before long the project administrator was fired and i began to do admin stuff. Although I shadow my technical colleagues do work and even relieve them when on leave on technical matters.
t is not like when this is your main work. My colleagues dont even want me to know much because they want to be relevant and in charge.

It is really affecting me and becoming a growing concern. It just so fustrating, although i give my best to the admin job and no one even knows I am frustrated. friends and colleagues think all is fine

I dont see myself acquiring skills that can put food on the table, what i basically do is draft letters, reports, print, photocopy, create invoice, manage the office sharepoint and purchase office supplies.
which to be honest do not require specialised skills. I am just worried, i dont see any special skills been added to me. it is like am not growing and learning anything for the past 4 years, other than the pmp and prince2 certification i acquired
i dont see any additional benefit.

The funny part is the pay is not so bad i go home with 387k every month exluding benefits and bonuses.

As a man i always believe one should always learn a skill in event of a job loss he would be able to establish himself from that skill. This admin is not a man job, plus you find yourself being distracted and doing
stuff for others instead of yourself.

I have tried to apply for various jobs in other places even for lower pay, but they have not been invited me for any interviews. Even applied for PM jobs, no calls. And IT is something you need to move with
else you become rusty as technology changes daily.

Am getting married soon and think career is something i need to address before settling down.

I am very grateful to God, I have a job, but for how long will i be like this, no growth prospect, just leaving and resuming i feel very empty.

Am not lazy, i have a vision for my life and i work with towards my goals.

Can someone in the house give me some tips as am getting frustrated. I am even thinking of starting a business, but the truth is that is suppose to be a side hustle.

I currently work in Lagos.

U've gotten some certification friend, it might interest u to know d stats of engineering &other technical professionals doing mkting, not even operations jobs in d banking system. I wd never advise u to quit for any bizness, it's failure. Just be upgrading urself at leisure times while checking sides for better opportunities. It's not easy coming by dt kind of pay in d employment mkt dis days.

Express ur frustrations to a person u might consider as a career mentor.. Listen to what he has to say, in the meantime, keep putting in your best in your present job.

Quitting your job should be the last resort after exploring all available options.

Have you talked to anyone about this? Your direct boss -> HOD -> Head of Division -> Director -> Company Head

From what you explained, this means you have got extra time for self development and activities. You will be able to run private practice. You can coordinate and manage IT projects outside your firm. This is no issue since your firm is actually into a different industry - telecommunication.

If all these do not work, do your research, apply to companies that offer what you want, get the job offer, then move on politely.

Regards

This is one of the many reasons why i haven't worked for anyone and will never work for anyone ever in my life

Money is the easiest thing to make

Thank God i was smart enough to figure things out and since then i see people who work as slaves because i know a lot of businesses that make anyone a millionaire in just 5 months but the last thing i will do is to tell anyone, even if you put a gun to my head

If it isn't your father's company, live with it, most jobs are frustrating. If you must know, getting another job close to that pay is almost impossible now. With the standard you already created for yourself, just endure, plan and invest your money.

387 excluding benefits? Dude my advise for you is to quit the job and you wld knw what frustration is all abt. I studied computer science and I am working as an admin staff. because my company knws am computer savvy they didn't employ any IT staff so I double as admin and IT and I earn below 100k.... How frustrating can DAT be? Am not even thinking of quiting because I knw how hard it is to get a job... Bros my advise for u once again is to quit the job maybe after u do u wld knw the real meaning of frustration.

.... Whenever you're off work, attend trainings so as to renew your skills....... If permitted, with time you may become a weekend based I.T instructor. The more you teach, the better you get. Try this And you'll be glad you did.

I understand your frustration, money as a motivating factor may seem OK but at a point u start getting frustrated as u are currently experiencing it. Thank God your career is one where trainings are flexible, u can always apply online n get trained same way. In doing this u are boosting ur cv with new skills. Like already said, keep applying for new opportunities.
For the biz aspect I believe there's d biz of I.T. So u don't necessarily have to quit ur job to get started. Start with underground work...
U getting married soon, hope ur woman understands ur plight n not concerned with salary alone, just in case u get d job u truly desire with a lower pay to avoid stories that touches. So just b on same page...
Hope it helps

I feel your pain bro, the fact you think this way shows you want to succeed in life and you are not laid back, try to make friends with great mind, locate a mentor and speak to him about it. Also speak to your boss on your current frustration. But most importantly pray to God. Its God who defines a man destiny, a man can only discover it.

If you are no longer satisfied in doing what you are doing, while not quite & follow your mind..God might be leading you to other interesting things. The real you is clamouring for manifestation. Unless you are ready to take the risk, you can't move forward in life. Life isn't about money, money but self satisfaction & realisation. Move forward my friend..nothing to fear.
