There is something called job security that should be most important in these times... especially for one about to get married. Job security is the reason why your workmates would not allow you the opportunity to showcase your skills.... the boss would notice and realize there is no need for Mr X and Mr Y because you can cover for them. If you change job the same would be the case. You have been applying and not even being called for interviews..... that should tell you how difficult it is to get a job.... then the pay would be another eye opener... and you most likely would find yourself dreaming to get this very job you are so willing to give up. Try finding out the situation with others with your qualifications .... that I'm sure would make you appreciate your job.

387 excluding benefits? Dude my advise for you is to quit the job and you wld knw what frustration is all abt. I studied computer science and I am working as an admin staff. because my company knws am computer savvy they didn't employ any IT staff so I double as admin and IT and I earn below 100k.... How frustrating can DAT be? Am not even thinking of quiting because I knw how hard it is to get a job... Bros my advise for u once again is to quit the job maybe after u do u wld knw the real meaning of frustration.

Seconded

Good thing you are well certified in relevant courses. If you feel vulnerable, why not create your own job? Your passion is within the computer field and the world today is a global village. Explore your potentials and be your own boss.

Op it is unfortunate most people here can not relate with your predicament. A lot of people are still struggling to get a fairly paying jobs, and would do anything just to make ends meet. For you it is self worth and recognition, which is because you have scaled some levels in maslows hierarchy. I was in your shoes a few years ago, seriously frustrated even with a fair pay (not up to yours though). After much struggle I took a job which I had passion for, I thought it was going to come with a pay cut, fortunately I got a 100% increment on a job I was ready to take a cut for...Two years down, I am again looking forward to a more challenging role but this time with better pay. My advice to you is to keep trying, talk to people who care to listen about your passion, keep applying, and try pro bono too...it is well

Bro. Chat me up let's share ideas. I take home as much you do too but with a business by the side that will make me retire soon. Funny part is that with your fat salary, the company will soon tell you they can no longer afford you. monacrystals@gmail.com

I can relate with what you're going through. But then, you Have to really sit down and plan it through..
How long have you been working?

Have you before now thought of doing something in a later time, something you can call your own after quitting a job, or did you just wake up one morning and think you should just quit because you're not being taken seriously at work the way you wanted to be taken?

Have you talked to your boss about How you want to be taken seriously? What was his response?

And if at all your plan is to go solo, have you anything in mind that you've got ideas, training or skills at, that's definitely going to make you stand firm?

Pls know, that even if you go solo, the first six months will be shaky, but once you're determined, it will be fine. If you have nothing in mind to do if you quit, and you've not acquired the skill, I'd advise you go learn it. Find a place professional and start learning. Once you're good to go, then you move, quit and start up.

Your take home salary is ok considering the current economic recession. But then, Once you're married you will see it's almost impossible to save much. So if you plan to quit, hold on and discuss with your woman. Once your ok in your plan to start up as your own boss, then you guys can proceed.

Do not quit your job unless you've got a very good back up plan.

Godspeed.

I have tried to apply for various jobs in other places even for lower pay, but they have not been invited me for any interviews. Even applied for PM jobs, no calls. And IT is something you need to move with
else you become rusty as technology changes daily.

I doubt your claims of skills and class with this grammatical error.

However, assuming all you said is true, my advise is, bro continue with the job and keep applying for other jobs surely you'll get a call soonest. Note, patience and endurance are key in this regard.

I have a bsc in computer Engineering and a masters in information techology with distinction and have CCNA and Itil certification finished school when i was 20 years early and worked for telecoms company.

I joined my company 4 years ago hoping to be a technical support specialist, this was my job position in my previous company, but along the line i was told i will be a junior project manager.

I was first drafted to a Junior project manger role, this made me acquire the PMP and prince2 certification.
Before long the project administrator was fired and i began to do admin stuff. Although I shadow my technical colleagues do work and even relieve them when on leave on technical matters.
t is not like when this is your main work. My colleagues dont even want me to know much because they want to be relevant and in charge.

It is really affecting me and becoming a growing concern. It just so fustrating, although i give my best to the admin job and no one even knows I am frustrated. friends and colleagues think all is fine

I dont see myself acquiring skills that can put food on the table, what i basically do is draft letters, reports, print, photocopy, create invoice, manage the office sharepoint and purchase office supplies.
which to be honest do not require specialised skills. I am just worried, i dont see any special skills been added to me. it is like am not growing and learning anything for the past 4 years, other than the pmp and prince2 certification i acquired
i dont see any additional benefit.

The funny part is the pay is not so bad i go home with 387k every month exluding benefits and bonuses.

As a man i always believe one should always learn a skill in event of a job loss he would be able to establish himself from that skill. This admin is not a man job, plus you find yourself being distracted and doing
stuff for others instead of yourself.

I have tried to apply for various jobs in other places even for lower pay, but they have not been invited me for any interviews. Even applied for PM jobs, no calls. And IT is something you need to move with
else you become rusty as technology changes daily.

Am getting married soon and think career is something i need to address before settling down.

I am very grateful to God, I have a job, but for how long will i be like this, no growth prospect, just leaving and resuming i feel very empty.

Am not lazy, i have a vision for my life and i work with towards my goals.

Can someone in the house give me some tips as am getting frustrated. I am even thinking of starting a business, but the truth is that is suppose to be a side hustle.

I currently work in Lagos.

Yours is better you have a job. Me am jobless here.

Bt on the matter. I am just like you, i like working in a place where am learning new skill and improving on old ones. If i was in your shoes to do away with the frustration i would start a personal project. This could be me learning a new IT skill like PROGRAMMING, ADVANCE CCNA, WEB PROGRAMMING ETC. this way you could run a web base business since am always around computers nd stuffs. Engaging in a new project wud take away d frustration and help advance your skills. You never knw where you will end up 2mao and the new skill could be relevant.
Re: Fustrated With My Career What Should I Do by Nobody: 9:23pm On Nov 12, 2016
1. Invest money massively into a business, maybe IT consultancy. Dont resign, do it in your spare time. If you can, get a reliable partner to hold the fortress while you are at work.

2. Build a house forbyour accomodation and get that out of the way. Pay off all debts and loans.

3. Set a percentage aside for miscellaneous spending post-resignation. Do not keep cash, use it to buy stock in promising listed companies.

4. To keep yourself sane in your present job, write more examinations and acquire higher certification in fields related to yours. It upgrades your cv in the long run and keeps your skills relevant.

When your start up is getting more contracts than you can handle part time, you are free from debts, rent and have a stash for rainy days invested in the stock market, bid your boss and colleagues adieu and wish them luck. Oh and dont forget to drop some fliers from your start up on the way out, they might need to contract a consultant IT specialist later.

Nobody, but nobody, ever got rich on a salaried job, regardless of how massive the salary is. Quote me anywhere.

Oh, and you can thank me later.

I can relate to ur experience

Personal development and relevance is important in a profession as well as finance is.

I advise that u do not leave ur job. Not just yet. Considering other factors which we know about.

However, seek other avenues that help you develop and acquire d skills you want. It doesn't necessarily have to be within ur present organisation. Do jobs outside too. Your colleagues may not want to show u BT u may meet others in sister firms who may show u a thing or two.

Also do not stop applying

Goodluck
