Anime title: Izetta the Last witch.

What is it about?: It is the year 1939. Germania has invaded and conquered Livonia, and Thermidor and is threatening Britannia. Meanwhile, they also have the tiny Alpine nation of Elystadt in their sights....but standing between them and their goal is the Ruler of Elystadt, Archduchess Fine....and the White Witch...Izetta....Defender of the Nation(and Fine's childhood friend).

Yes...I know...that is not how WW2 happened (The Germans were interested in occultism stuff though..heheh).

In case you do not get it....Izetta, the Last Witch (Shuumatsu No Izetta ...in Japanese )...is a fantasy/action anime...set in a European setting around the time of WW2...although names have been changed...and a bit of fairy tales have been mixed in.

In short....it is WW2....just not what the history books teach you.

What I like about this anime.?

It is got a lot of drama, and a lot of pain there. On the one hand, you have Princess Fine...who has to juggle her friendship with Izetta with her obligations to defending her nation...and Izetta who wants to use her powers to defend the Princess and her nation.

Except that there are powerful forces that are interested in using Izetta for their own ends....chief among them being the mysterious Germanian intelligence agent Berkman.....

It is a very dark study of power, and how it is used, and how it affects the people who wield it. Sure...it is good to be powerful. But...being powerful does not mean having a peaceful life....and always being exposed to evil manipulative forces.

Will Izetta and Fine have a happy ending...or not..?
