TEHRAN, Nov. 24 (MNA) – Photographs have emerged showing the graves of over 30 victims of last week's massacre of civilians in a peaceful religious procession on the outskirts of the northern city of Kano.

Scores of people were killed and many injured after Nigerian security forces attacked them with live rounds as they marked the 40-day anniversary of Ashura.

The procession was one of many strands from all over the country trying to reach the city of Zaria to join up with a gathering organized by the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) which in previous years has attracted several million people.

The photographs show several rows of freshly dug graves in a cemetery in Kaukau village in Kano State. The graves, all unmarked, are believed to belong to some of those gunned down in the military assault on November 14.

The discovery comes as the Nigerian government faces mounting concern over its recent treatment of the IMN. Last week Nigerian authorities also demolished schools, hospitals and seminaries belonging to the IMN in the state of Kaduna just as the Attorney General and Minister of Justice was flying out to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague to answer questions about another massacre last December.

The Nigerian government has been waging a bloody crackdown on the IMN which has seen its leaders and followers killed, shot, arrested, raped, beaten and harassed since December 2015 when an army attack led to over 1000 people, mainly IMN members and supporters, being massacred.

What has this country turned to?... A country we all jubiliated when abacha died because it affected us all in different measures.

A country we all went on riot when MKO's election was annulled.

A country we once carried food to muslim homes during xmas and they gave their's during sallah.

A country we all played and danced together on common ground when ever nepa takes light at night.

I still remember my muslim neighbour who connected his car battery to his t.v just for us to watch Atlanta 96.. And ate in a very big tray of food right in his sitting room.

Where is the one Nigeria we loved. Where did we get it all wrong?

Today we fight and kill ourselves for what we know nothing about or how it came about.. We met it, some have left it for the great beyond, we would always leave it someday.

It is rather sad that we have to wait for International agencies to tell us about the daily oppressions and human right violations taking place in our midst. We should condemned any right violations that is meted out even to those we don't like their faces. They are humans and deserved to be treated with dignity.

If it's was to be a secret burial of innocent people, the grave won't be like this, they will have make it align with the ground surface so that people won't know it's a grave.
