With the rumoured hike in prices of data plans which is set to take effect tomorrow, here are seven mobile applications many Nigerians would most likely not use anymore or maybe reduce usage of.

SNAPCHAT

The ultimate keeping up with xyz social app. Snapchat is one of the most expensive social networks to keep up with. And when you throw in the fact that new filters are added almost daily, which you have to download, it just doesn't seem data-friendly.

YOUTUBE

Many Nigerians (myself included) derive great entertainment from youtube videos be it in form of movies, comedy, music videos, etc. However when 1.5G sells for #3000 as alleged, not many will consider it worth the 'waste'.

INSTAGRAM

Another data-gobbling app is Instagram. Instagram is fun but let's face it. Instagram is one of the major reasons most people have to purchase data plans more than once a month. But if this rumoured increase is true, how many will be able to afford such 'luxury'?

VINE

Vine may not be as popular as Instagram at the moment but there are many Nigerians on there as well. It's pretty much the same as Instagram though.

SKYPE

Forget Skype, many Nigerians won't even remember Skype except if WIFI is available.

TUMBLR

Tumblr may be a micro-blogging network but trust me, the multimedia you find there can be the greatest enemy of your data balance. Those who know, know.

PINTEREST

Pinterest in itself is not so bad but when you factor in the fact that you have to click links to view posts laden with images, you can literally hear your data balance crying for help.
