Is the solar supplying the aouse directly, or charging the inverter battery

And when did u do it
Thinga arr more xpensive nw

It is putting solar panels and charge controller on a regular inverter setup. So you still have inverter and battery. The guy that installed mine separated the lines in the fusebox, so the AC points don't ever get powered by the inverter.

Yea dats what we do,
We isolate the heavy system so that it wont run down the inverter,
When u said u installed 2.5kva for 260k dat gat me confused
Cos an average 12volt battery now is above 100k depending on the producer
Re: How Efficient Are Solar Electricity Power Systems? by SolnergyPower: 2:02pm On Dec 13, 2016
I quite understand what you mean. We also take that into consideration while installing.

But with your description, the inverter is still exposed. The breaker ought to be between the load and the inverter.

NoMoreTrolling:

There is always an engineering solution to everything.

My cousin provides inverter setup in each of the new houses he constructs and the electrical engineer simply wires a fuse/breaker from the battery to the inverter to limit current draw.

So if a client decides for instance to run a 1200watt iron on a 1.5kva inverter, the breaker would simply open up and shut the system down.

Solar electricity is a very good clean energy. But my worries is the high cost of all the processes from procurement, installation and maintenance. Many people can not afford it...why? we are still importing the components, there are very few solar companies who can make affordable provision and thirdly we havent fully embraced the technology of solar.
Secondly we have a very weak government that doesnt look into the future. There is a solar company owned by a woman in kaduna through to out sketch of abuja. She supplies energy as pay as-you-go.She has successfully established a good business for petty traders who need light for their business.Currently she is under huge threat by some silly government policies.

In my opinion we hurriedly jumped into solar energy without counting the cost. How many research engineers do we have in solar? Do we have a place to train engineers and specialists? Do we have a sustained maintenance culture?
I know a couple of homes and businesses that use solar, trust me they are seeing hell....issues upon issues which they didnt have any slight understanding of.
Nigeria has the weather to make it work, but what about the cost?
For now we are trying to get our feet down, but if we plan towards it i think solar electricity is a huge alternative power supply that can compete with hydro and gas generation.

Thank you for this. But, if you're using pressing iron, won't there be a similar surge demand? I've actually seen a couple of.people using solar with just two Ac's though, so don't think that should be an issue. What do you think?

May low power iron but tome Solar is my dependable alternative while generator does the dirty job.

I'm currently in Ilorin, Kwara state, I need a 3.5kva Inverter + Batteries.
I do not have money for solar Panels for now.
I do want to know which Generator capacity can charge this without any hassle if there is no electricity?

And please I need sound enginner that can guide/sell for me QUALITY AND DURABILITY is the watchword.

For now we are trying to get our feet down, but if we plan towards it i think solar electricity is a huge alternative power supply that can compete with hydro and gas generation.

Initial cost compared to a generator or the grid is high. The generator cost substantially more to run. Solar needs no fuel and because there are no moving parts very minimal chance of mechanical failure. Cleaning your panels, equalizing and watering your batteries is the maintenance required
Many people pay more than the cost of a comparable solar installation to run a generator for a few hours a day.
The world has embraced solar why hasn't Nigeria
You don't need research engineers to grow an industry. However Nigeria has agencies and groups dedicated to renewables and solar.
Our company and other companies offer a service agreement just like the big generator companies
The installations you see with problems - the equipment is not at fault. The sizing and the installation most times are the problem. We know of lots of trouble free installation.
Germany and New Jersey get less irradiance than Lagos. Yet Germany can run up to 50% on solar. No brainer.

Solar with hydro and wind are the proper mix. Solar alone is not enough

If you like waste your money. All efficient street lights in Nigeria including Aso rock is powered by generator. As I type, There are 8 solar panel wasting away outside. we thought cleaning them would make thinks better, but no show. Na generator win for now.

who wan sell solar panel give you. him dey use am foe him house ?

Pls can you give those panels? Or sell them for me at a give away price? I need them for a project. Thanks!

The amount of current generated by the solar panel will drop, but not stop being generated in most cases. And depending on your solar panel, and if you have a good mppt change controller, it will try to get the maximum current available from the solar panels.

Re: How Efficient Are Solar Electricity Power Systems? by SolnergyPower: 1:17am On Dec 15, 2016
What your brother has is the standard inverter and what your brother needs are...

a. Solar Panels
b. Solar Charge Controller
c. DC Cables
d. Circuit Breakers

As shown image below, when the solar panel traps charges from the sun, it passes the energy through the solar charge controller to the batteries for the batteries to charge.

The solar charge controller regulates how the battery is charged effectively.

There is a hybrid inverter, this type of inverter has an inbuilt solar charge controller. So in this case, the solar panels are connected straight into the inverter.

Yes a solar inverter is different from a regular inverter, but a regular inverter system setup can be tweaked to work with both PHCN power supply and solar panels, so you brother won't have to change his inverter. This is a system installation my firm handles all the time.
