I have my reservation about the ID of those animals. Many people often erroneously mistake alligators for crocodiles. They look so similar in morphology and integument and the easiest way to distinguish between the two is through their snout length. Alligators' snout length is much shorter than crocodiles'.

That aside and in reaction to some people's fallacious claim that Kenyans eat this (crocodile or alligator) like chickens or cows, I vehemently oppose. Yes, poaching of wildlife is not endemic to Nigeria but there are very countries on earth where poachers celebrate illegal killing of wildlife and frequency of poaching of rare and threatened species is as high as ours. The other time, the killings of manatees and hippopotamus were widely celebrated in the Niger Delta and River Benue, respectively. Go and try that in Kenya and watch what becomes of you and your accomplices. I mean, those who kill threatened wildlife in serious countries that see natural environment as a means of sustaining livelihoods and their economy, do so secretly and they know the consequences should they be caught.
