You right about the lag being experienced in the Auto sector R & D , However, i think it's a ploy most car manufacturers use. They actually have series of improvements and innovative features, but they won't roll them out all at once, rather, they would wait to see what their competitors come up with, before adding an extra feature to the subsequent model - a feature that could have been added a year or ever years earlier.

They took the 2012 Civic and added a few curves from Hyundai Accent to make the 2016 City. After that, they took the Honda Crosstour and resized it into a smaller version to make it the the 2016 Civic.

If i drive this car in my street, all the suspension will scatter under 2 months.
