So all those prizes up there contribute to the economy? In case you don't know literature has in many ways contributed to the economy. Literacy is encouraged by an exposure to works of art. And many inventions of today came from ideas in novels e.g space travel, submarines, helicopters, rockets, etc. Also most Hollywood movies that rake in money into their economy are based on novels e.g The Godfather, Apocalypse Now and many more
If you watch a lot of horror films, you will know that a lot of them are based on the novels of Stephen King like The Shining, Thinning, Carrie and many more. Also, the idea of Big Brother show came from a novel written by George Orwell.
