@ poster
i would like to register my sincere sympathy for not being called for the interview.
having said that let me shed some light on certain issues as it concern the nigerian youth, there are alot of home work we still ned to do on ourselves, eschew iddle-talks
do more of listening than talking anddont be prompt to render judgement. poster, from the way you sounded you are not intelligent to me.{no disrespect pls}

did you burder to inquire into the person of those two?
did you at all try to check where they are coming from?
did you by chance know the performance of those two?
please be sincere to yourself for once, how sure are you that you pass the test?

you are only trying to blackmail some innocent HR executives as if they to blame for shortcoming, i work with HR though you are not expecting me to say an HR man can't have candidate but the truth is HR will only give you the opportuity to prove yourself.
and something tells me that people like you will be ruthless whenever the favor is not on thier side.

like i said no hating, i wish you the best i your next endeavor, i hope i could help you send your cv

@Phuck_NL

I dont blame people like you. Its people like you that think a first class is a good candidate! While i agree to the fact that academic excellence is good, it does not buttress the fact that fair playing field should not be given to all.

Am not a first class candidate but i know my onions in my field of specialisation. if not my CV would not have attracted Mobil HR.
Further to this, we had not gotten to the interview stage yet for them to determine our levels of reasoning and experience.
When you say we are empty barrels, i just pity your sense of reasoning.

I think if one is to be fair to himself, one should be able to ascertain one's performance after a test.

So Phuck_NL or whatever you call yourself, just try and think before pouncing on the keyboards of your system when next you want to say something on Nairaland!

This is exactly why a lot of you don't get good jobs. Listen and learn. You believe you did well in the test abi. THat is not good enough. You have to be the best of the best to work for the best of the best.. What if you scored 98% and the others scored 99%.
I wonder what is wrong with you people. Whether Exxon is partial or not is their own cup of tea. Do you know the millions of applications they receive. They undoubtedly receive the highest number of engineering and accounting applications in Nigeria.
Can they hire everyone. You are bitter because you were not good enough.
I just told you my neighbor now works for them and he doesn't know anyone. Stop making it seem that they don't hire people on merit.
They hire thousands on merit. There may be back-end runs but that does not mean they don't hire on merit. YOU WERE NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
Move on with your life and apply to othe organisations. Must everyone work for Mobil. wetin.

Naija factor everywhere. It is naija that is spoiling Naija. Any multinational where you see Naija people in power, there must be runs going on.

@phuk_NL, from the way you speak, you're giving the impression you have superior intelligence. The poster said he passes, but you are saying he failed. Where you there?

Olodo. Define Pass in this situation. Pass is a relative term in this situation. To pass, you have to be better than the other candidates. If he was better, he may have been chosen. He wasn't better.

Bittertrut:

I am afraid phuck_NL seems to be exxonmobil PR officer. Otherwise, how can one explain his position? May I say that I have a very very close friend who sat for this apt test and attended the interview under discussion here.

NL make una look at this:

Yes - six candidates wrote the first test, then suddenly two (who could easily be said to be resembling brothers) were later ushered in by another exxonmobil staff (who kept talking to them in their native dialect), even provided them pencils & erasers. On seeing the suspicion shown by two of the first set of candidates, he offered to go get extra pencils & eraser but never brought any neither did he show up again.

The Interview- four scaled through to the interview stage & one of those tow guys was among them. in fact, the first to be interviewed. There is the suspicion that two came forward even when the arrangement to push the older brother to the interview stage had been concluded
Now the questions begging for answers are:
1) was the whole arrangement made to be all for the guy that (presumably) made it to the interview stage, having painted it real with the inclusion of the other three candidates?
2) are there no rules in exxonmobil as regards conduct of aptitude tests? one could easily conclude that the second test arranged was to accommodate the two late comers.
3) why is it taking HR this long to 'get back' to the three candidates (they still communicate but the other guy deliberately kept to himself) even though the whole process was to have been concluded on the interview day and the successful candidate known?
4) why was the white man that conducted the test kept out of the know about the late comers until he had to protest openly in the test hall when he saw them if there was no attempt to defraud.

Another empty barrel making noise. How can i be exxon's PR officer.
Why would exxon need to come here to defend anything. The idiots condemning them like yourself, are the same ones that will still flood their website with applications next yr. If people know that you can't get into EXXON on merit, why is it that they still get tonnes of applications every year. Food for thought you dumb wit.

@OP, I'm sorry man that you did not get the job even though you passed the test, but generally speaking from experience when I worked for an HR dept in my Junior year in school, there are several factors that determine reasons why someone gets a position or not. Assuming one position is available, you have more than 300 application, HR use their software, and exclude 25 possible candidates for interview, after the interview 12 people passed the interview, others were dropped, of that 12 people, you guys could be called to take your test in two or three different batches, after that your test score would weight in a descision factor, and not a sole factor.

Obviously not every one will go through the third stage process, they could only pick 3 candidates out of that 12 even though the 12 did excellently well. Remember that every test taken has a "THRESHOLD" point and once you cross that point, it means u qualified. Perhaps, if the threshold is 85% and everyone scored above 85% but not 100%, it doesn't mean someone with an 89% score isn't qualified either. I must agree with you that even though you have a 100% test score, I have seen where recuiters picke up someone with an 89% becasue they have a niche advantage over someone with 100% and it happens all the time and could be what happend to you.

Just keep trying and God will provide u with something else.

Please y'all I want to post a topic on this forum and I want it to appear on the main page, how do I do that?

Have some questions about if its right about how my employer treated me, is the scenario I like to explain discrimination? And it has to do with me on posting on NL.

As far as I'm concerned there is noo evidence of foul play.

The OP has been discredited - his account has been deemed inaccurate at best and falsehood at worst by two other posters who have claimed that 3 of the original six made it through to the interview stage. That implies, as phuck_NL said, that he (samurai) wasn't good enough!

It's easy to sit down and disparage Exxon and their processes, but unless you have inside information on how those two individuals got accepted, this is nothing but mere speculation. The poster (Bittertrut) who mentioned maybe the two were presented with the view that the older 'brother' would get through is simply grasping at straws. Firstly, none were picked, then only one was picked? Why not pick the two since they were arranged and Exxon doesn't recruit on merit?

You should go read the account by the manny who has worked in HR - once you meet a minimum score level, that is all that is required. Other factors come into play and each company will make it's decision, along with the subjectivity of the individuals making the decision.

Obviously the recruitment process wasn't as transparent as it should have been - does that imply foul play? Not necessarily. Needless to say, if Exxon did not employ on merit they wouldn't be the most successful privately owned oil company in the world.
