Merry Christmas to you all Nairalanders.

A question going through my mind since the last sixteen years, much have changed, the weather, the heat, the harmattan coming very late, the melting ices, every day fossil fuels products enter the land and atmosphere and on the eve of Christmas and new year annually fireworks are released also, don't you think these are harmful also.. all this all boils down to increasing Human population with poor birth control methods in countries, will the earth survive with increased human activity as a result of this population?..

Now what has been the effect of human activity on the Earth as result of increasing population?

Wars/conflict: As long there are men there will always be wars, basically for self interest, wealth, natural resources, land area, wars this days are fought with WMD, nukes and bombs which release radiation into the atmosphere and plants, animals and the environment is affected, more men more military forces, more need to expand and more need to go to war,

Pollution; increasing population causes an increased demand for means of transportation, which increase demand for fossil fuels, since vehicles dont run on clean energy there is pollution. with increased amount of carbon oxides in the atmosphere more than the plants can convert, these plants are destroyed also in bush fires.

Deforestation: to meet up the demand for increasing population forest and farm lands are converted to residential areas, rural areas covered in bushes, large trees and grasses are not spared because they are converted to cities. like it or not these bushes provide our oxygen.

Demand for beef: being a veggie, isnt such a bad idea, though am not, because i think that was God intended purpose for humans in Genesis 1 vs 29, to live longer and healthier. beefs are sources of heterocyclic amines which are very carcinogenic with detrimental effects on the DNA and can induce cancer, beef sources is from cattle , these animals devour vegetation and farm lands can cause deforestation if unchecked, and in turn releases massive amount of methane, a green house gas. of course it needs large areas of land to rear compared to chickens which are more healthier source of meet.

Animals and lower lifeforms: everyday animals from the land and sea are killed by us through pollution and deforestation. if you deprive an organism its sources of energy and it cannot adapt it dies, most animals depend on the fishes of the sea, with massive fishing activity to meet a growing population, animals such as seals and penguin which feed on fish are deprived and they die, polar bears are affected, they are hunted for their fur, an ecosystem is altered. a food chain distabilised.

Disease/ infections: have you ever wondered if there will be plague or an outbreak of a virus if there was less physical contact with people you know and those you dont?. disease spread faster in crowded areas as a result of increasing population. no space to walk in the market without bumping into anyone. in the bus also..

with all these points. will the earth survive over population.

share your thoughts and views.

Please Mod push it to front page..

merry christmas once again

Man will do all they can but the earth/humans will still end someday. The question is when.

Does it not amaze you that your God's purpose contradicts common sense, simple reason, and science?

Wait, you realize your actions are causing a whole lot of harm to the earth and humanity but you still go ahead with it because your God says so?

Please, never speak ill of the Jihadists anymore. cheesy

Earth will survive but with increased harsh conditions that will negatively affect quality of life in general, due to the deleterious anthropogenic activities herein.
