Code of Conduct Tribunal declares Ribadu wanted

The Code of Conduct Tribunal, an arm of the Nigerian presidency in charge cases of assets declaration by public officials, today declared former EFCC chair, Nuhu Ribadu, wanted -allegedly-for refusing to declare assets.
The order, which was given by Justice Constance Momoh, requested all security agencies in Nigeria to arrest Ribadu wherever they might find him.

The tribunal at its proceedings today rejected an oral application by the counsel to Ribadu asking the tribunal to order the code of conduct bureau to supply Ribadu with certified true copies of his assets declaration.

Ribadu lawyers argued that for the past two months an application made to the bureau to provide the accused person with a certified true copy of his assets declaration form filed in December 2008 shortly after completing his studies at the NIPSS, Kuru, Jos in Plateau State was yet to be fulfilled.

There is too much of sentiments in some people when it comes to anything that touches on Ribadu. We must put away sentiments and deal with facts. It is a criminal offence for a public offical not to declare his assets. Did Ribadu not know this, as a police officer and a lawyer? He should come home and face the charges against him and defend himself. His shouts about people being after his life are just a ploy to evade justice and win public sympathy. From his calculation, he knew the law was closing in on him, that was why he had to find a good reason to escape. The wicked runs when no one is after him. Ribadu, come home like a man and face the charges against you, instead of staying abroad and throwing stones from there.
