Especially those who live where there are bad roads..I hate the fact that they increased the import duty on SUV..makes no sense

kabrud:
But why increasing that of SUV na? Is it only rich men that drive them? Average people use them too.

The article was inconclusive and anyway focused on local sourcing within states and cities. I am referring to countries.

Read more articles please.

The arguement in that article was that if it could happen within states, it could happen on a larger scale when controlled.

Let me try one more time.

Higher import tariff=Import restriction

Import restriction has been used by the Nigerian government for years. How well has it worked out over the years? If you say it has worked, in which area has it worked? Do you restrict import without first establishing enough local production to meet the demands? Do you have a price control program in place? What about a quality control program?

Hope this English is simple enough.

U need not repeat urself. My response to it earlier remains valid and relevant. Concerning the colored, not neccessarily so for all goods especially those that are not essential. Once there is a need for it, it's a matter of time, supply or alternative will be available locally.

Funnily I've not seen any "non essential" goods in FG's target list for import restrictions. Or is there any non essential goods in the OP's list?

Non essential goods abound and trust my country men to bring them in. There was a time in this country we import toothpick. This is non essential. Besides, ur reference was generic and not specific to ops list.
