He is a liar.
No tricycle taxi driver makes even N50, 000 monthly in Nigeria.

There is something called delayed gratification. In 6 years time...that your friend in Deloitte will ask for a minimum of 800k a month from any potential employer...(and there will be a number of them)...
Work and learn now...enjoy later...
Besides we can't all be entrepreneurs...

This delayed gratification also applies in entrepreneurship... you should know it wasn't all rossy at the beginning but I am sure I am entirely rewarded for my effort which is something he will never get no matter where he works now or in 6 years time.

your write up shows u are still in the days ''when Ali n Simbi goes tru school and then get a good job in d bank.'' sorry bro, things v changed. Being a graduate doesn't stop u from doing a blue collar job. What I think u should have said is PLANNING. A bank worker dt does not know how to plan with his salary over d years may end up in an ogogoro joint. Baba, riding a keke now as a graduate/noneducated does not mean u will remain a keke rider for ever, if u know what u r doing...pls change ur view towards ds topic, and stop seeing bank job as a superspecial job thanks.
I used bank job because it is one of most let down white collar job.

If you had been a bit patient, you would have noticed I made a comparative analysis based on the long run. I was only trying to show in the long run a graduate will be better off than a keke driver. So to make up for this, keke drivers should diversify when the money starts coming.

You are talking about a bank worker, am talking about 'on average'. Those are 2 different things. Average keke driver is not better than an average bank worker both in the long run and short run, but few keke drivers can be better off than an average bank worker in the SR but nearly impossible in the LR.

Quote the modified write-up.

Actually they can make more than that in a month depending on how sound the keke is, but can't have more than that to themselves, talk of saving close to that.

It is so easy to write that on paper to fool all the ignorant people on nairaland Assumming its assumption are right that means a lot of the keke napep riders are rich and will own Luxury houses and properties. According to its calculation he makes an average of N150,000 per month . That means he saves an average of N5000 per day for 30 days including saturday and sunday. The N5000 does not include fuel and other overhead cost like park ticket, police fee, maintenance cost etc and beside he will feed himself and probably give the wife something . I think I understand him he is just using that to motivate himself . The average he can see is 2,500 perday after expenses. Which is equally a good source of revenue.

That's true bro, same way the keke can be confiscated by law enforcement agents for the slightest reason, especially in Lagos. What am saying is, every line u decide to tow in this Nigeria there are some inherent risks which u must be ready to deal with. As for my initial post, my MD is a testimony. He started as a graduate trainee in the same organization, today he is the MD/CEO, believe if I say no keke rider for 20 years can rise to the pinnacle this man has risen to, I really mean it

If the kekeman diversifies with the profit he makes and invest in other businesses, he can be richer than the said MD.

Focus, determination and ambition is the key.

I understood the guy very well. 80% of the banker that wear suit are bbroke. I am a school drop out with only national diploma. But believe my hustling pays. Sometime I make like 500k a day just to give people a contact for were to buy a particular materials. Those that have contacted me from nairaland knows what I am talking about.

Hustling pay but it take time and endurance to study your hustling environment. In business many people will advice you to follow your passion but to me it is a weak advice because sometime your passion may not be viable immediately. My advice is make the money first even if you are to do a legal odd job and then go back to your passion. even what some called passion can not be found in one particular career. My passion in life is to talk to every graduating secondary school child on the truth about life instead of the junk the are thought by the teacher, but willl start that when I make money to my satisfaction because you can't teach a child how to make money without u having made the money. I have suffered for life and have acquire
a lot of real life experience.
EDUCATION IS NOT AN END BUT ONE OF THE MANY MEANS OF ACHIEVING AN ENDS

You have a good mind and I agree with your general idea and some of your specific points. Our problem is how we think in this country

Danfo and molue drivers earn more money than some bank managers but they squander it on frivolities like booze, sex and baba ijebu lotto.

Poverty is a thing of the mind.

The internet has opened opportunity for people to work casually and still make more. My friend with Deloitte told me he gets 180k as salary and I advice him to quit that job cos i noticed he puts more effort in this job than I do with my "hustles" yet I make more than he does monthly... tbh, sometimes, I earn his monthly salary within a week. I really wish he would be man enough to decide it's time to get full reward for his effort by quitting that 180k/month job cos I know he works more than he earns.

Hello, I advise you buy the TVS model, it should be around 550 - 600k. You can go with a guarantor and promise the seller that you'll pay him the balance within 2 months. Don't be like me, I wasted five years looking for a job.

And the MD of a finance house will not diversify his won income right? Believe me, every focus, determination and ambition the keke man has, the guy who rose from a graduate trainee to become MD has that in multiple folds

Dont get me wrong, I didn't say I save abt 150k, I make abt 150k monthly. Of course I do expenses, I pay house rent, I feed but I make sure I save exactly 60k monthly. That's about 1.5mil in 2years.

Ok, good for you. That still doesn't mean white collar jobs are that bad the way most people here are trying to paint it. The same way one can make it tru business, the way u can make it tru any other job be it white collar or brown collar if u put your mind to it and u are favoured.

The interesting thing about having your own business or handwork/hustle is that you determine when to and when not to work. And most of all, I think contentment matters a lot.

Some people work in big companies, earn good salary but are not happy because their job is either taking too much of their time or stressing them out. Meanwhile we have people who do business, make moderate money and are reasonably ok and don't suffer any stress.

E no easy to wake up early morning around 4 am to rush to work and get home around 10/11pm and keep repeating the same damn thing for 5 days in a week some even do 7 days a week. But then everybody cannot go into business. Some will work, while others will do business. You just have to pray for God's direction on what to do.
