LA Galaxy: 250 million dollars w/ endorsements. (5 year contract)

I still don't see what the big fuss is about.  The U.S. is not soccer frenzy.

It is a bad deal in my opinion. Beckham is getting old, plus, what is
his world standings these days ?

not in my opinion - america doesn't give anything out for free. b4 they made the deal, they did their research. Expect one or more of the following:

- a massive flooding of tv/radio/print media with advertisements

- a beckham la galaxy shirt to go for at least $70 (without his name, with his name cd top $80)

- sold out stadia wherever he goes

- beckham in movies

- the lure of the MLS for other euro-players

do they stand to lose the money? as in any other biz, sure, but something tells me they pulled off a major coup with this deal.

But how much impact will convince us that he's earned that money.

"Something we've all never seen before", like what David? David is still a very good player, I hope he can raise football's profile in America, but most importantly help Galaxy win.
