Real Madrid supports Ramos after Sevilla controversy. His team mates and fans stood by him after he was criticized for upsetting the fans of his former club, Sevilla.

It was revealed that prior to the encounter between both teams in Spanish league, Real Madrid made a comment, saying:

"Ramos, conduct is and has always been exemplary throughout his sporting career, to the point where he now represents a benchmark in values for all fans of football and sport in general."

Sevilla's fans got upset with Ramos during their encounter in Copa del Rey on Thursday. This was as a result of his celebration when he converted penalty kick "Panenka" style — a chip down the middle.

Ramos, who noticed the hanger in them, later apologised to most of the fans but said those who insulted him during the match don't deserve his respect.

Real Madrid in response to this situation, said:

"The sport should be a meeting place and common ground, not an environment of insults, hurling objects or any other manifestation of violence."

Madrid further said:

"Real Madrid has always highlighted its willingness to collaborate with other clubs to eradicate violence at football stadiums and we therefore join the call made by Sevilla for the fans attending tomorrow's (Sunday's) game ... to enjoy the sport on a basis of respect and tolerance."

Real Madrid in the spirit gave more credit to Ramos. According to the club:

"He's our captain and he's an example for everybody, not just inside our dressing room. He's surely the most iconic player in Spain,"

When contacted the club manager, Zidane said:

"What happened is already in the past."The matter is closed and we all want to see a great football match," Zidane said. "We have all called for respect, not only for Sergio, but for all the players. We only want to think about football."

Sevilla on the other side rose to condemn their supporters for insulting Ramos. The club told their supporters to refrain from insulting rival players and clubs as well. Saville also called on Spanish league to sanction Ramos for his style of celebration during the match when he scored the goal.
