The Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED) has said the 11 electricity distribution companies (DisCos) in Nigeria have no control on generation or transmission of energy to Nigerians. This is coming 24 hours after the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, said the sabotage of power assets by militants has prevented the nation from generating 7,000 MW of electricity. Fashola made this known at the January edition of the Nextier Power Dialogue which held at the Thought Pyramid Art Centre, Abuja.

The minister at the session also said that the nation’s power grid could now support 6,500 MW, debunking claims that the capacity of the grid is not more than 5,000 MW. He added that if pushed to its limit, the nation’s grid could as well carry 7,200 MW. In an ad titled ‘Power Sector Facts’, ANED stated that: ‘We can only distribute what we are supplied. Electricity Distribution companies do not generate or transmit energy; we only distribute power that is sent to the grid. We cannot give what we don’t have’. According to ANED, the 4 reasons there is a poor supply of power in Nigeria are: Vandalism of Gas Pipelines; Low Generation of Electricity; Poor Transmission Infrastructure; and Shortage of Gas.

If you can only distribute what was supplied, why are we paying for what was not supplied?

You do not generate or transmit energy but you can generate crazy figures as bill...

Heaven will judge you!!!

These people might as well sit down and do nadda, then at the end of every month nigerians will still pay them for electricity they never supplied. This country is going backwards

Don't mind the clueless DISCOs, and their equally retar'ded association. They cannot give, what they do not have. But they can collect huge sums of money under the guise of estimated bills, in return for the darkness they dish out. angry

Fashola has not just become a rocket scientist but a federal minister rocket scientist

He will now show Nigerians that he greater than maradona is here. He will bully his way and intimidate labour and jack up prices

This is just his usual media bamboozlement technique. Works like charm. Afonja juju.

The discos of which Fashola via Olowolafe is a shareholder will say no light to supply but Fashola also said 7000mw is available. This is what they can generate with or without militants bombing pipelines.

APC will be more of a sophisticated scam than PDP

PITY how d people Perish cry

Eko Disco is one of the worst lying Discos in Naija. shocked The whole of last year, they kept telling people in Lekki area to call back, that they did not have pre-paid meters available. In a recent publication, they claimed to have supplied 100,000 pre-paid meters to their customers. Haba??! So who are the ones they supplied meters to, last year?? These people can lie for Africa!! sad

They have refused to fix existing faulty pre-paid meters and are quick at dishing out sky-rocketing estimated bills, especially when they have done nothing else, but supply darkness. God dey watch una! angry
