Residents of yenagoa woke up this morning to a strike by keke drivers. The drivers grouse arose from this year when the bayelsa ministry of transport introduced numbering system for keke to be bought at N6,700 per vehicle. Apart from this it also planned to introduce several stickers about 3-4 at about N3,000, that apart the curtains that was banned last year, saying the keke men use it to conceal and convey criminals . Now they have turned around to re-introduce the curtains. Now the said curtains is sold in the open market between N2,000 - N2,500 but the new curtain by the govt will now sell for N16,500. Now to operate a simple keke in bayelsa you have to pay around N30,000 - N35,000 details on the way. Source: eye witness
