I recommend a book that every African should read, Why Nations Fail by Daron Acemoglu. In that book, most of us will think the author had our leaders in mind when he wrote the book.

Nothing is wrong with African's leaders brain. It can be explained quite simply:

The vast majority of our leaders were dirt poor nobodies for most of their lives. After hustling and taking advantage of a system that allows them to rise to the top (especially as we the citizens sit back and let such people rise), they find themselves in luxury and power. Who would want to leave that and return to abject poverty? It's not the individuals, but the society they are part of...

When we start making it possible for educated, thoughtful, and already-successful people to rise to power, I think we'll see less and less of this greed.
