Chai!! Like mother like daughter eventually grin Ella is so deceitful, quite cunny too. She is just using Otunba same way Paul used Dara. Keep it coming Candy, more wisdom strength and inspiration to you dear. This piece should serve as an eye opener to ladies anyway. You can't eat your cake and have it.

Darasimi still acts like an immatured girl.still chidish..and ella, she's fond of running away from her daughter whenever she needs her the most..A yoruba adage says,"Abimo ko to Awomo"

Liz hummed under her breath as she made her way into the living room, dragging her packed suitcase behind her, her travelling passport looking all new and shiny on the center table, next to her flight ticket to Canada on a two-week holiday with Dr Deji. She put down the suitcase and faced Dr Deji who had his eyes glued on the TV screen.

“Thanks for everything. I will miss Tobi though.” She said.

Dr Deji stood up from the couch and held her shoulders, the suitcase between them. “Don’t thank me, Liz. You know I will do anything to make you happy. Besides, Tobi will enjoy his uncle’s place. He is a good boy.”

Liz smiled and picked her passport. Holding it in both hands, she said, “I’m just soo excited, never left the shores of this country before.”

Dr Deji shook his head in mock dismay. “You have a way of making a big deal out of little things.”

“I’m just very excited.”

“I can tell.” Dr Deji pushed the suitcase out of his way completely and hugged her tightly. Feeling her discomfort, he let go of her and shrugged his shoulders. “I hope you’ll loosen up during this vacation.”

Liz’s face suddenly turned serious; gazing at Otunba’s picture on the wall- clean jawline, dark lashes over lovely eyeballs, all set on an extremely handsome face. She was no match for him in looks and she knew it. She never stopped thanking the gods for making their union possible. She turned away from Dr Deji and walked towards a sofa. Knowing that, in some strange way, Otunba has accepted Ella- despite her shortcomings- as a substitute for her. Her heart ached and her face burned with shame. She should have stuck to Dr Deji, but it too late, she thought.

Dr Deji’s face filled with fear and disbelief. “Don’t tell me this man still has such a strong hold on your emotions! He is with another woman; don’t let him hold you down from moving on.”

From the sofa, Liz shook her head and flashed him a quick smile- like many of her gestures, this seemed her idea of what was appropriate rather than something felt. “I’m actually getting over his betrayal gradually. Looking at his picture when I’m standing with another man reminds me of him, that’s all.”

“Then keep the pictures away from the livingroo...”

“This is his house, Deji. I can’t remove his pictures.”

“Fine!” Dr Deji raised his arms in resignation and sat down next to her. “Do whatever makes you comfortable dear.” The shrill sound of her phone suddenly broke the awkward silence that followed his last words. With the speed of light, she grabbed it.

“Hello, Tolu...Darasimi ke? Which hospital? Carlton? Haa, mo n bo.”

“What happened to Darasimi?” Dr Deji asked, already on his feet.

“She’s in the hospital. Apparently she slumped in her room.”

Without looking back, she grabbed her wallet and slipped her feet into the nearest pair of footwear- a pair of bathroom slippers. She quickly put on a blue t-shirt over the sleeveless top she wore on a pair of jeans and dashed out of the house.

"Can I take your suitcase along so we can head to Lagos from the hospital...you know, so we don't miss our flight tomorrow." Knowing her well enough, He regretted it immediately the words came out of his mouth.

"She turned back in anger, "We are talking about a sick child, you are talking about flights!"

“I'm so sorry dear. Wait for me, let me lock the door. I will drop you off.” But she was already out of the compound by the time he was done.

Otunba’s thoughts were chaotic as he pulled into the massive car park of Carlton Specialist Hospital. Ella’s seeming lack of concern had lingered with him like a chill that wouldn’t go away.

He climbed the stairs to the private female ward and raced down the hall to room 204.

“Hello sir!” A staff nurse rushed after him. “Who are you looking for? We don’t allow just anybody to go to the wards...”

He stopped in his strides and said, “I’m sorry, I’m Darasimi’s dad and I’m aware she’s in room 204.”

“You should have allowed the receptionist to attend to you first sir.” The nurse said with a sneer. “Just go sha.” She said and walked back downstairs.

Otunba noted her face and name, “I will address your rudeness later,” he said under his breath.

He pushed the door of room 204 open and smiled when he saw his daughter looking bright and well on the hospital bed. Tolu sat by her side and watched her friend eat from the food flask on the bedside table, playfully holding her drip stand. Except for the strong smell of antiseptic, the hospital could pass for a five-star hotel.

“Welcome sir!” Darasimi’s face lit up when she saw him. “I trust you will race down here.” She said, grinning from ear to ear.

“How are you, Dara?”

“I’m fine sir. Where is my mum?” She looked towards the door, expecting her to walk in after her father.

“She had to go keep a business appointment. She’ll join us here in a bit.”He said and turned to Tolu, “Tolu, why did you sound that way on the phone? You scared us.”

“E ma binu sir. She was unconscious when I brought her here...”

“Pele.” He sat at the edge of the bed and held the hand through which they passed her drip. “What’s the nature of your sickness?”

“Em...em...she’s...em...”

“What is it?” He jumped up from the bed in annoyance, “What is em, em...?”

The two friends gave each other a cursory look. “She’s em...” Just before Tolu found the courage to complete her sentence, the door creeked open and Liz rushed inside, panic written on her face.

“Darasimi, ki lo se e? Ki lo de?” She asked her

“Nothing.” Darasimi answered her curtly, then turned to her friend and eyed her in annoyance. “I don’t know why she called the whole Nigeria.”
Liz turned to Otunba as if seeing him for the first time, “Otunba, e ku itoju e.”

“Thank you, I’ve just entered myself.” He was visibly angry at seeing her. Turning to his daughter he said, “Who is the doctor treating you/ I need to talk to him.”

“His name is Dr Livingstone.” Tolu answered.
In two long strides, Otunba was at the door, Liz also rushed after him. “Wait for me, please.” he told her, but she didn't budge.

He closed the door and turned to her, “Liz, I don’t think Ella will like seeing you around here. You’ve done your best and I suggest you keep off at this juncture.”

“After everything I did for you and Darasimi, you still have the nerve to stand here and tell me that?” Bottled up anger threatening to erupt as her voice rose a pitch higher with each word.

Otunba shrugged. “Whatever favours I owe you- if any- have long been paid, and you know that deep down in your heart.”

His new ‘I-don’t-care attitude was so unlike Otunba. The Otunba she married will never raise his voice at a woman, let alone his wife. “Really?

You have repaid all favours?” Her voice echoed down the quiet hospital hallway.

A patient and her relative stopped to look at them, while a nurse carrying a medicine tray stopped to watch the drama. Embarrassed, Otunba raised his hands in resignation. “Fine, let’s go to the doctor’s office if that will make you feel better.”

He flashed the nurse a smile as they walked past her towards the doctor’s office.

Some men/women do have really short memory...they forget favors so easily.

A similar story was once shared on fresh FM(Ibadan), it was a call in program. A woman called in and said the girl she helped trained personally went in search of her biological mother that abandoned her over 20 years back! It's a long story my sister, but mewa n she le is all I can say!

Glad you left your ghost mood...don't go back smiley

Hello bae! I am following you bumper to bumper

I am pre-occupied to comment but I am here with you

The story is getting hotter and I am afraid if Otunba won't be infected with HIV or AIDS because of illicit affair of Ella

More so Otunba will soon regret his action for divorcing Lizzy and towed the path of destruction

Keep it coming bae but promise me you be my e-gf so that I can come here to comment again out no time

Don't laf out your butt this time around oooo....

Sweet popcorn for you.
