Some may call them female developers but we’ll stick to calling them “Programming Vixens”. They are super heroes conquering territories with code, one line at a time. Girl Power! Some you know, others you don’t.
What is most inspiring with these women is that, their influence is going to bring out more female developers, in years to come. They have taken the bold step to do what they want to do, and also be the best at it. There is a lot to learn from these ladies.
Here are 10 “programming vixens” of the Nigerian Developer Community you should follow:

1. Ire Aderinokun
Ire or Ire da Gawd as she’s fondly called, is a Google Expert in Web Technologies. She is a self-taught front-end developer, UI designer and also Head of Design and Product at Big Cabal. She gives talks about User Experience Design and Front-End development. She currently writes weekly technical articles on her blog bitsofco.de and tweets @ireaderinokun

2. Moyinoluwa Adeyemi
You can call her the lady inventor as she created “Yoruba Watch Faces”. An app which is a collection of Yoruba watch faces built in Yoruba Language. Currently a Java warrior, she is co-organizer of Google Developer Events and a software engineer at Swifta Systems. She tweets @moyheen and you can follow her medium articles on Machine Learning, Android and all things tech @moyinoluwa.

3. Makinwa Olubukola
Makinwa Olubukola is a JS or Ruby Developer and a lead facilitator at Andela. Formerly, a Lead Developer at Swap Space, reading her story on how she learnt to code 2 years back was nothing short of inspiring, sparking in me the urge to build games. She is currently ranked amongst the top developers in Nigeria by Github and tweets at @Dim_kyky.

4. Omolara Adejuwon
Omalara is a Ninja Android Software Developer and Cofounder Kass Africa. She’s currently ranks number 10 amongst GitHub Developers in Nigeria. She tweets @_larikraun and writes articles on Medium @_larikraun.

5. Yetunde Oluwasanni
Known mostly by her moniker “Yettie”. Yetunde is a Software Developer at Andela and campaign coordinator of Code Spark. She also co-founded Tech In Pink, an organization that gives back and inspires female coders. A Machine Learning Enthusiast, she tweets at @OluwaYettie and blogs at techinpink.com.

6. Lynda Chiwetelu
Lynda is software developer at Hotels.ng, the largest hotel booking site in Nigeria. She’s a pro at Javascript, PHP, HTML 5 and CSS. Her personal blog talks a lot on Tech at lynda.chiwetelu.com and she tweets @lyndachiwetelu

7. Rukayat Sadiq
Rukayat is part of female developers leading the pack. She is a software Engineer and Technical Team Lead at Andela. She is also proficient in MEAN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, AngularJS, and Node.js) as well as the FAN stack (Firebase, Angular JS, Node.js). Known as a problem solver, she’s currently active on Facebook and Medium.

8. Onyeka Aghanenu
An artist turned programmer. Onyeka has over 6 years’ experience in front end development. Her core expertise is in Javascript, CSS, Wordpress, Python, Django, PHP, Adobe Creative Suite. She tweets @OnyekaAg.

9. Kosy Frances Anyanwu
Kosisochukwu which is her first full name, is a DevOps Engineer and software developer with Andela. Personally, I like how she is so detailed on her journey to becoming a programmer and how bug-fixing made her a better programmer. You can follow her Medium articles or tweets @kosyfrances.

10. Aisha Bello
A champion for the Python programming language, Aisha currently is the organizer of Django Girls (a developer workshop for girls learning and proficient in the use of Python and Django). She talks on all things Tech and Python related. She is also an Associate Systems Engineer at Cisco. She tweets @AishaXBello
