Please help oo
I hav a toyota avalon 2002 model XLS as this is my first ride. I think it consumes a lot of fuel tho im not sure. From my house to my office reads 19kilometer or miles and on a weekly basis I buy 2k fuel on Monday n by Friday it shows red. I do not drive around just house to office.

Secobdly I notice dat wen I turn d ignition on n off d fuel keep going down. Sometimes wen im driving I choose not to off d ignition cos I notice if I off it n on it again d fuel will really go down but if I dnt the fuel remains where it is. Sometimes Short distance will consume d fuel. iv asked a mechanic to check it for me and he says nothing is wrong with my vehicle.
Plz help me guys as I feel the car is putting a whole in my pocket.
Tnx

20min per day

Times 5 is 100 mins

That's like from Lagos to oyo town on a 2k fuel shocked

My illustration is vague, cos driving pattern and co will come into effect if u r travelling, but mehn,if that fuel consumption is still much for u,u myt need to buy okada to supplement it o.that one,na 500 naira fuel per week o grin

Honestly, while u shld do the calculation the way gazzuzz asks u to,I doubt if ur MZ-FE V6 engine is consuming fuel

U cant compare ur personal car and public transport as the comfort u get with driving ur own car is what u r paying for

The impression i have is that your car must be the most fuel efficient Avalon i've ever heard.

Sorry to ask but is that car not a v6?
Re: My Toyota Avalon by Kjnwancaro: 11:07pm On Jun 22, 2018
Nothing wrong with your car. 4K bill per month on gas is kind of very cheap. Forget 10mins home-office drive, it would still be around that price even if the distance was double.

13 litres for 95km.
That's about 18mpg city. Absolutely nothing unexpected about that.

JohnTrevolt If this fuel consumption is a problem which in my opinion is very okay, replace your Avalon with the bland 03 corolla

Avalon's owner's manual of that era with 1mz suggests premium fuel "if you expirience knocking or if you want better performance."

If you want standard performance use premium unleaded.. Although regular fuel can be used but not regularly

u have just turned it upside down to suit u. Unleaded fuel is recommended. They went further to say leaded fuel may cause knocking and reduced performance.
