SPANISH football is coming to Facebook Live.

La Liga has announced that a selection of games will be available to view, for free, on the social media platform.

The first game to be broadcast will be tonight’s clash between Granada and Real Betis, kick off is 7.45pm British time.

In a statement released by the league’s governing body, they said they have a “permanent commitment to innovation and new formats to view football”.

Action will be broadcast live on the La Liga official Facebook page as well as GOL TV’s page.

The statement read: “This is a commitment to innovation framed within the strategy of digital development of LaLiga with the aim that all fans of Spanish football can enjoy it.”

The idea was floated last season when the league’s page boiradcast live action from the Spanish women’s league.

This season it showcased the semi-finals of the Copa de Rey, with Barcelona taking on Atletico Madrid and Celta Vigo facing Alaves.

It is not know which games will be shown live until the end of the season at the time of writing
