system restructuring have been identified as the
panacea to the current socio-economic challenges in
Nigeria’.

This fact is so obvious for any discerning person. How successive governments try to ignore this obvious fact is beyond me.
---
Why would the FG not decentralize Power transmission and distribution? Why control all the waterways and maritime fronts in the states? Why control all the minerals beneath the ground? Why not let States or Regions take up a lot of these responsibilities and develop at their own pace. It is so obvious the the FG is grossly failing?
---
Instead of being pro-active and start restructuring the country now, we will wait until circumstances are forced on us before we act. Typically, by that time, things have so gone out of hand and we start politicizing and blaming our perceived enemies.
---
Africans need to show that we are, indeed, capable of governing ourselves. We are where we are because of the actions and inactions of the past. Our future also depends largely on the (in)actions of today. We can't Pray ourselves out of this. No country ever did.

Quite sad. Apparently, when they are active in office, nobody wants to "rock the boat". The "free allocations" they get from the Center freezes their brains.
---
Is there any National Assembly member (North or South) who would be willing to champion this course? Yet, that is the arm of government that has the powers to legislate on the restructuring. Even when the idea of a National Conference is mooted, our legislatures are so scared that their powers will be usurped.
---
Sadly, as you rightly noted, it's when they are no more beneficiaries of the system that they suddenly "realize" that the system is poorly structured.

True federalism is good but the north will always kick against it cuz of the oil in the Niger Delta.
They will only agree if they eventually find oil in Bauchi and lake Chad basin .
True federalism will lead to a healthy competition amongst regions for development, and it help Nigeria to develop faster.

Over the last 16 years of democratic rule, OBJ did 8yrs, GEJ did +5yrs. So, you see, South had controlled the country for +13yrs, yet they did not consider restructuring the country. But, somehow, you find it convenient to blame the North for your problems.

Until when Nigerians begin to look at issues for what they are rather than dissect every issue on the alter of sentiments (tribe, religion, party, etc), we will never make progress.

True federalism to the northerners is the same thing as BIAFRA.
