Barely 24 hours after 164 Nigerians were deported to Nigeria through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, from Libya, over immigration related offences, another 161 were on Tuesday, again deported to the country from the same North African country.

The latest set of deportees who were also brought into the country aboard an Air Memphis chartered aircraft from Sebha in Libya arrived the Lagos airport at 11.15 a.m.

Out of the 161 deported, 73 were males while the remaining 87 were females. They were deported, according to an immigration source, as a result of immigration offences ranging from expired visas, illegal documentation to fake visas.

Tuesday’s deportation brought to 325 the number of Nigerians the Libyan authorities had deported in the last two days. The Libyan government was said to have taken the decision to rid its country of illegal residents with the aim of creating jobs for its citizens to survive the global economic meltdown.
