AN OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNORS RAUF AREGBESOLA AND ISIAKA ABIOLA AJIMOBI

LAUTECH CRISIS: A MOCKERY OF CHIEF LADOKE AKINTOLA

Your excellency Sirs! There is a Yoruba idiomatic postulation that Says: 'ti ko ba nii di,obinrin kii je kumolu'(no smoke without fire). When a child decides to greet his father by dragging his father's beard, it means something is wrong somewhere. It is either the child is not properly trained or the father called for it through his verbal or kinetic gestures. We are in a society where we are made to believe that elders don't lie. Even ,elders are always right. I know you will agree with me that dividends of democracy mean different thing to different people. To a farmer, democracy means empowerment of farmers. To a traveler or motorist, it means good roads ,affordable and easy access to PMS. To a civil servant, it means payment and increment of salaries as at when due. In fact , to the jobless, it means employment. Sirs, to students, it means quality and affordable education, bursaries and scholarship. Before one can be a student, one must have a teacher and before one can be a teacher, one must have at least a student. The ongoing puppet drama at Ladoke Akintola University is fast becoming unbecoming, painful and crestfallen. In fact, It is a show of negligence in paralinguistic letters. It could be likened to deliberate wickedness and executive carelessness. In a sane society, such a thing would be called insecurity of the future.

The news of the reopening of Ladoke Akintola University for academic activities to commence was received by the students of the university with great enthusiasm, sincere happiness and smiles of fulfilment. They even rained encomiums on the characters who brought the smiles on their faces. They packed their books and traveled down to the campus in their thousands all to observe their academic rituals. Another dividend of democracy dangling in their palms. Alas! The news turns to a lie! Lautech turns to the only university without lecturers, students are now wandering like a Fulani cow. This is sad! This is unscrupulous, this is excruciating , this is crestfalen! This is a mockery of our revered Chief Ladoke Akintola. How would a university with thousands of students without any lecturer be named after him. Could this be a deliberate attempt to ridicule the heroic deeds of Chief Ladoke Akintola? Or a calculated design to punish the innocent students of Ladoke Akintola University ? Why should their future pay for it?

The two Governors and visitors to the university are hereby enjoined to as a matter of urgency, necessity, and duty, seek to the resumption of academic activities in Ladoke Akintola University before 14 days.Failure to see to the commencement of academic activities in LAUTECH before I4 days, would make the two Governors to face a protest by Nigerian students whose skins has grown against any form of negativity and deliberate wickedness.Nigerian students will protest against the mockery of the name of our revered Chief Ladoke Akintola by the two Governors and also protest against the insecurity of their future in a school named after a hero.
