Privacy Invasion - Etisalat Is Spying On You by GoodMuyis(m): 2:20pm On Feb 21, 2017
Privacy is one of the leading concerns for internet users. Everyone care about keeping it personal whatever the activity(ies) they performed online, raging from browsing Social Network, Shopping, visiting some other website. But there are times where Our Privacy is being violated, that is some folks decide to be tracking your internet activities. Such is the case of Etisalat Nigeria.

“There are a lot more people tracking you than you think,” Jackson said. “The data world is a very powerful and lucrative marketplace with a lot of players involved.”

As web developer, I was inspecting a website source-code, then I realize an injected url loading an external JavaScript:
http://10.71.184.6:8080/www/default/base.js
I care less at first, but I was curious to know what the JavaScript file is doing in my site. I was suspecting Browser Plugin, but it wasnt, At the same time I was suspecting Etisalat, So I Switch to Glo Network, and reload same page behold injected file was gone.

So what is the JavaScript From Etisalat doing?

Each time you visit a website, the above file will be injected and loaded in any webpage you visited. When the page finally load, the JavaScript then send url of the page you are visiting as well as time of visit. see image below

Are You safe from Etislat Internet Spying?

Yes, You are safe, if Etisalat will not disclose your information to public, otherwise, the data they collected may be used against you someday, especially if you are a Politicians or prospective one, OR someone decide to open to the Public your dark record.

In my research, I discovered that using Proxy Tunneling or Browsing secured website that has SSL (i.e. https://) enabled you are safe from the spying eye, so practically is not possible for them to track most popular website like facebook, Twitter, Email Services because they uses Secured Connection.

With this revelation am not out to cause damage to Etisalat Nigeria but to inform the general public, what the Black Boys are doing behind the door.

Now Your Option, Start Using Proxy Tunnel OR Start using something else

I noticed that too. Looked up the IP and found this thread. They also have a way of informing you about your data balance when browsing on mobile. Obviously they inject their code into the pages to do so.

The problem is that; at time the injected url (http://10.71.184.6:8080/www/default/base.js) seems to be down causing your site to be slow, in fact I discovered this url because it was slowing down my site. The solution will be to get a good ssl package just as you advised
