PILE FOUNDATION: pile are used to support the ground in unstable soil where a large structural loads are involved. Piles are driven into the ground by pile drivers, machines usually of a high frame with appliances for raising and dropping a pile hammer or for supporting and guiding a stream or hammer.
Pile foundation are used when the soil is cannot support the weight of the building or if the building has very heavy, concentrated loads, such as in a high rise structure, bridges or water tank.
Types are end bearing pile and friction pile
In end bearing piles, the bottom of end of the pile rest on the layer the strong soil or rock. The load of the building is transferred through the pile onto the strong layer.
And in the friction piles, the load transfer s the load of the building to the soil across the height of the pile, by friction, thats is the cylindrical sharp works to transfer the forces of the soil.
