Liverpool Vs Arsenal [1 - 2] On Sunday 13th Dec by Cristalz(f): 9:51am On Dec 12, 2009
Liverpool host Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday evening as they look to bounce back from their poor start to the league and earn 3 points to keep them certain of a UCL spot next season.

After five losses Liverpool are supposedly having a wretched season, but the table tells you they are three points off a Champions League place. And now, Liverpool are very close to having a full squad once more. Only injured names are Ryan Babel, Martin Kelly, and Nabil El Zhar.
Striker Fernando Torres is back on the team, and he should be partnered by Dirk Kuyt in attack.
Captain Steven Gerrard will be providing some necessary attacking support in the middle. Alberto Aquilani, Javier Mascherano, Alberto Riera, Lucas, and Yossi Benayoun are all available to coach Benitez in the middle. Liverpool have got the strength advantage over Arsenal, but they'll need some pace as well to be able to counter the Gunners' fluid passing style. Aquilani brings that to the table.
Attack-minded defender Glen Johnson will be looking to score a goal or two while keeping the Arsenal strike force at bay. With the exception of the injured Martin Kelly, Liverpool have got all of their key defenders available.

Arsenal head to Anfield with a long injury list, and with Wenger being forced to make some necessary rotations to the team.
The Gunners haven't really recorded impressive results against the big teams so far this season; one wonders if this will be the same.  .  .or different.
Strikers Robin Van Persie and Bendtner remain injured. Eduardo is injured(thigh muscle strain), but he might be able to make it to Anfield. If he doesn't, we could see Wenger again playing Arshavin up front as a striker. Shouldn't pose any problems for the little Russian. Carlos Vela is also an available striking option.
Captain Cesc Fabregas will be marshaling things in the middle. Abou Diaby is back on the squad, and is expected to make the Merseyside trip. With Emmanuel Eboue and Tomas Rosicky injured, Alex Song, Theo Walcott, Ramsey, and Denilson are Wenger's other options.
Defender William Gallas will be on the squad, as well as Arman Traore. Goalie Manuel Almunia will surely have a lot to do come Sunday. With Arsenal seemingly having trouble with not conceding, they will need to keep a pretty tight defense to escape Anfield with something in the bag.

I was a lil ill(fever), but i'm recovering.

I did write something(couldn't finish it because of he fever), I hope criz won't mind me adding it here.

The stage is set for another top 4 clash @ anfield, as liverpool host the red and white army,
both teams have not been at their best in their last couple of fixtures, and will be looking
to change their fortunes with this match.

liverpool go into this match on the back of a 1-2 loss to fiorentina, and
are without a win in their last 5 premiereship fixtures, and there are rumors that
rafa might get the boot if things do not change soon.
there is however good news for the reds, as el nino looks set for his 1st start after his hernia problem,
and Aquilani also looks set for his full league debut.
the reds are currently 7th on the table, and a win could take them 2 places up on the table, while a loss could
make em drop to 8th.

arsenal make the trip to anfield on the back of a 0-1 loss to olypiacos, and the boys will be looking to beat liverpool for he second time this seaon.
with RVP,Bendtner,Clichy,Djourou,Eboue,Gibbs,Rosicky,out
wenger will rely on AA23 to spearhead the attack, with vela and walcott as alternative attacking options.
a win could see the gunners close the gap a little, while a loss could mean them dropping 5th.
Re: Liverpool Vs Arsenal [1 - 2] On Sunday 13th Dec by allboyz(m): 11:05am On Dec 12, 2009

I dont know if El nino can have an immediate impact on return, but you never know. . .

to give the gaffer the boot now would be a grave mistake financially for Liverpool. He recently signed a 5-yr contract and even though the public is not aware of its terms and conditions, he will be walking away with a huge settlement (thus compounding the club's financial woes.)

3-1 to the Arsenal. . . .Liverpool will score first and appear in the ascendancy but the Spanish Maestro known as Cesc will leave his imprint on this game. Attempts at diving by Gerrard and Babel need to be stamped out else there will be some fiery scenes.

Considering Arsenal's injury list, it will be a huge disappointment if we liverpool dont get 3 points.

Gunners just need to play maturedly and the game will be theirs. They'll more chances definitely but scoring will be main riddle to solve. Thank heavens Diaby is back.

Either of the team will lose scandalously. It will be an anti climax. It depends on who wants it more on the day.

I have a feeling Pepe Reina may just be the difference between the two teams.

MWL,Cristalz. , please could you or Muki modify the link to this thread on the NL homepage?

Liverpool is hosting this game ,hence the thread as correctly titled here should be Liverpool vs Arsenal and NOT the other way around.

Thanks. . . wink
