There have been many oppurtunities for us to grow our defence industry in the past(The jf17 program for example) the political will is just not there.

And don't tell me that we have a small defence budget, our defence budget is one of the highest in africa, yet we have low strike and attack capability.

Take Morocco,Angola for example, we have a higher defence budget,yet they have a stronger airforce.

There is definitely something wrong with our defence planners.

I mean you got to praise the airforce personnel, Using Mediocre equipment purchased in limited number to fight.

Quality is subjective if we bomb own citizens for accident we include that for quality. It is indeed shameful,there was a time North Korea wanted to sell us missile technology,our politicians revealed the proposal and got warned off by the US.
We have neighbours like Chad and Algeria who are well armed with MiGs and Sukhois,these countries can reach us quite easily and yet we do not see the threat.Nigeria,by virtue of our economy,population and ambition,should have air superiority over sub-saharan africa at least.

Nigeria arms industry is pathetic. I always suggested using the cheap labor known NYSC to design and do research on this. The issue with everything is Nigeria sabotages itself. 3 billion and we deal with pirates on coast, insurgents in north and herdsmen all over (supposedly).
