Went jogging today.
Needing to burn off extra carbs that latched on to my weight;
Needing to build up stamina needed for daily chores.

Setting a target of 12 miles,
Off I ran.
Setting the time for 2 hours,
I kickstarted my legs.

The first few miles were great.
Savoring the early morning freshness of the air.
Wondering why it had taken so long for me to start this exercise.
Enjoying the beats on my phone while humming gently under my breath.

"Fasten your pace"
My mind said.
Urging me to push the boundaries of my strength.
All in a bid to reach the destination quicker.

My motion quickened.
My pulse jumped off the charts.
I felt free.
An Usain Bolt in the making.

Ten seconds elapsed,
My fuel tank lessened.
Panting while the will to give up came strongly.
Drawing huge breaths, while the urge to go home firmly tugged at my mind.

I did not quit then.
Choosing to take the paces slowly to the end.
Gently breathing in and out to conserve strength for the next six miles to be covered.

At eight miles,
Jogging lost its spice.
The freshness of the air lost its appeal.
The enjoyable music blasting in my ears, turned into a gross nuisance.
The urge to quit clouded my thoughts.

I persisted.
Mile by mile, pushing the limits.
Swaying to the wind while forcing the thoughts of quitting out.
Calming my raging migraines with the thoughts of victory.

At the eleventh mile,
A thought of early celebration came to mind.

"You have done exceedingly well"
My mind said.
Urging me to slow down the pace now.
Perstering me to walk to the finish line.

The thought sounded good.
My flesh concurred with its logic.
But I could not do it.
Instead I girded my loins and raced to the finish line.
God knows there are no prizes for people who ALMOST finished the race.
