Nairaland Small Business Forum(NSSF) by Nobody: 12:28am On Mar 08, 2017
Over the past few years, I have had the luck to be exposed to a great businessman and self-development specialist. Through my years as the Managing Director of Emmadav Global Link Limited, a major exclusive retail-based Provision/ Cosmetics/Wines/Foodstuffs store located in the heart of Garki Abuja, I have discovered timeless idea that have added enormously to my business and my personal life.

As part of my work , I have studied and read tones of career books, columns, newsletters, articles etc on business success, career progression  and meet many rich business oligarchs and I have had the chance to learn from them firsthand__all the while making notes, collecting ideas, and keeping them in a secret file.

Because of these opportunities I'm now able to bring together in summary the best of these ideas. I have brought them together in a new way _succint, hard hitting, to the point _that you can use to make your own small business, and your life, as success as you wish.

It's not just reading and meeting great minds that make these principles so real for me. I have been lucky enough to build a successful business from scratch, make it grow, and in the process work with some of the leading business people in different places/offices.

Emmadav Global Link is, as I'm talking to you now, one of the busiest retail based Provision shop in Garki Shopping Complex as a whole. I have worked with multi-million naira companies, to develop their businesses and ours. I have also been opportuned to do business with some Non Governmental Organisations, Ministries, Government palastatals, Agencies and Media Firm. The great experiences mean I 've lived and worked in a world of ideas, and in the practical world of business. I 've had the chance to taste both, and to take what I can to make my life and our business a success. The experience has allowed me to move on to a new and existing projects and opportunities.

Through this, I have discovered that when you know the right things, the boundaries around your life suddenly disappear. In this thread, I would like to bring together ideas and principles that I have found of enormous value in conducting Emmadav Global Link Limited and my personal life. I hope to bring together for you the best of what I have discovered in my journey as a steward.

So this thread is a public meeting place for open discussion for our small businesses. Are you a shop owner, do you wish to own a shop? or know how to establish a retail based business and grow it to become a top notch in your area?

Okay, come in. It's all about we, our business and us.

Let's talk.

Hello my brother, I supposed you are a student, right?

The honest truth I can tell you is that as things are now in the market, prices soaring high each passing-day, starting a business with 30k seems very intangible but nonetheless, they are several businesses you could start with that(less) amount which would require a large turn of patience, diligence, dedication, and perseverance to grow..

First of all, you can start a recharge card business, but should look into your strength and your wit as well, then tell yourself the truth.

Secondly, you should scrutinise yourself and make sure you learn how to save and invest your little savings into your business without making even un(necessary) expenses.

Ps: I would recommend you to read this book titled 'Rich Dad Poor Dad' and 'The Richest Man in Babylon' by ROBERT KIYOSAKI and George S Clason respectively. It will give you a lot of motivation and insight as regards..

God bless you and keep the dreams alive.

I've just started a distribution business. Wholesale of pipes, cables and foreign bricks for now.

And I'm in need of ideas on how best to penetrate the market and management tips.

Agro product will always be selling at a fast rate, however, you need to have your target audience that will constantly buy from you. On my own part, I desire owning a bakery for bread making but I need two major things to get started: more cash to be added to the capital at hand and how to be trainined for it.

50k is just enough to start trading something but it has to be a thing you are very conversant with. With adequate information you will achieve a lot with it.

1st, what are your skills and talents? Are you good at serving others.

You can venture into school-based businesses that require small start-up capital; Photography etcetera...

Good. It's a good thing because you've taken the bold step not just a mere wistful wish. Now you have penetrated into the market, what is left for you is to immerse yourself in the business. Get and read books on management.(You can always pick few copies of the book from the bookshops or Google up and download soft copies online)

Endeavour to apply the principles therein. It will help strengthening you and at the same time broadens your scope of understanding of the business.

Wholesale of Pipes, Bricks and Cables is a very lucrative business and in other to sustain itself, should be groomed very well. Work most on broadening your client's base. They are the lifeblood of your business.

Make it a duty to get fresh contracts from every customer you serve after your initial business with them. Then watch your business grow with time.

Save more from your 'allowance' and seek for other freelance work you could do. If you can be able to garner up like 50-100K before the termination of your service, it could help get you something doing.
Re: Nairaland Small Business Forum(NSSF) by Nobody: 8:28am On Mar 16, 2017
Lol, the business being everywhere shouldn't be a discouraging factor. Infact, it's supposed to be an element of encouragement to a start up.(cos it's viable)

500k is huge enough to set up a good business. With the amount you mentioned, setting up a boutique business seems very appealing but first of all, you have to do the background checks.

Get a good location, very good location. Set up your structures and make sure you buy from the key wholesalers with the initial deposit of 1/3 of the total amount you have left immediately after setting up the place.

We call it testing the ground. Investing all your principal capital isn't good for a new business.
