TABARRUJ OF HENNA
.
Aisha radiallahu anha said,
Shyness is the best jewellery of a muslim woman. (ahqam un nisaa li ibn jawziy)
.
Applying henna is obtainable in islam, yes, you can apply it on your hands or on your legs.
It doesn't necessarily mean it must be your wedding or when you are attending a wedding only, its not a hausa culture either!
You can just do it any time you wish, its an adornment for women.
For the records, know that it did not originate from india, its been existing long before india got its name!
So do not think henna started from chopra and kareena in bollywood!
It started long before their mothers gave birth to them! Its a ne'emah from Allah to the muslim women, even the unbelievers envy the henna!
.
Even the prophet sallalahu alayhi wassalam used to apply a medicinal kind of henna!
Salma, a female servant of the prophet said that,
"Never did a wound or the prick of a thorn afflict the prophet except that he would put henna on it
(As- saheehah 2059)
.
However, many of the sisters today now wear henna and expose their hands for all and sundry to see it.
Henna is something very attractive and it can easily catch the eyes of a man, you should apply it for your beautification sake and for your husband, when you step out, cover the hands with gloves and the legs with socks, so that the rays of the sun won't dry it off or fade it away!
Its not for the whole world to see but for your husband/family!
.
However if your husband doesn't like it, then you may choose not to apply it.
Aisha radiAllahu anha said,
I do not apply henna on my hands because the prophet sallalahu alayhi wassalam doesn't like the smell of henna (tabaqat li ibn sa'ad 29/212)
.
So as a sister, you should be shy of attracting attention to yourself with your henna, its as if its now a condition for women attending weddings to apply henna! Even when u attend your friends wedding, you don't need to display it, the bride too doesn't need to display her own, keep them inside glooves!
Learn the concept of tabarruj, for it has many facets, else you will fall into it without realizing it.
.
Umar bin khattab radiAllahu anhu said,
Teach your women suratun nur.
(Al musannaf li abdur razaq)
.
We now see various pictures of henna hands and henna legs all over the internet and social media, we ask Allah for safety!
